Three lecturers from Vietnam National University, Hanoi were recognized as outstanding educators in the 40th anniversary of the education sector.

On November 11, 2022, the Minister of Education and Training decided to award Certificates of Commendation to 400 outstanding teachers and educational administrators on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20.
Among them, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has three educators who were honored to receive this Certificate of Merit. They are: Prof. Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - Chairman of the VNU Education Quality Assurance Council, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc - Head of the Training Department of VNU, and Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh - Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, VNU.

Professor Mai Trong Nhuan, former Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), was recognized as a Professor of Earth Sciences in 1996 and an Outstanding Educator in 2008. He has held numerous leadership and management positions at member universities of VNU since 1996 and served as Director of VNU from October 2007; and as Secretary of the Party Committee of VNU from September 2011. Professor Mai Trong Nhuan has made significant contributions in proposing innovative policies and breakthrough solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of all activities, achieving the goal of developing VNU to gradually meet international standards.
This includes innovation in university governance based on output; building and developing disciplines and specializations that meet international standards; quality accreditation according to regional and international standards… With his contributions to the cause of education and scientific research for the country in general and Vietnam National University, Hanoi in particular, Professor Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan has received: a Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training (1998), a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister (2002), the Third-Class Labor Medal (2005), the Academic Palm Award from the Government of the Republic of France (2007), Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (2009, 2012), and has consistently achieved the title of Emulation Fighter at various levels and other prestigious titles.
Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc is a leading expert in Vietnam in the field of Advanced Materials, Structures, and Composites. He has published over 300 scientific articles and reports, including nearly 200 in prestigious international ISI journals, and holds two patents. Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc is also a member of the international editorial boards of 10 prestigious ISI journals worldwide.

He was a research and visiting professor at prestigious universities around the world, including Moscow State University; the Mechanical Engineering Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia); the Japan Advanced Institute of Sciences and Technology (JAIST); the University of Birmingham (UK); and Sejong University (South Korea). He proposed and established the Advanced Materials and Structures specialization in Mechanical Engineering; founded the Faculty of Civil and Transportation Engineering Technology (University of Technology); developed the project and established the Infrastructure Engineering major at the Vietnam-Japan University; and established the Automation and Informatics major at the International School, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He has persistently and effectively contributed to the advancement of Vietnam National University, Hanoi's Engineering field, achieving a world ranking of 386, and has trained many talented young PhDs in this field at Vietnam National University, Hanoi and other universities nationwide. For four consecutive years, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc was ranked among the top 10,000 most influential scientists in the world by the American journal PLoS Biology, and 94th globally in the field of Engineering in 2022. He is also one of the few Vietnamese scientists honored by this journal in its list of 100,000 scientists ranked for their lifetime achievements and scientific citations. In 2022, Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam.
Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh, Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in General Medicine and Obstetrics in 1984; a Master's degree and residency in 1987; and a PhD in 2001 from Hanoi Medical University. He was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in 2013, recognized as a Professor of Medicine in 2015, and bestowed the title of People's Physician in 2017. Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh has held various leadership and management positions, including: Head of the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Viet Duc Hospital; President of the Vietnam Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery; and Member of the Executive Board of the Asian Society of Cardiovascular Surgeons. As the Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnamese Journal of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Vice President of the Council for Life Sciences and Technology - one of the specialized councils of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Director of E Hospital and Director of the Cardiovascular Center of the hospital... Recently, Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh received the First Class Labor Medal for his significant contributions to the field of healthcare.
