Associate Professor, People's Teacher Le Mau Han was born on October 1, 1932, in Bich La Dong village (Trieu Dong commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province), the same village as General Secretary Le Duan. From the village of Bich La Dong, with its hot winds and white sand, after the Geneva Accords (July 1954), he relocated to the North and studied at the newly established History Department of Hanoi University. In August 1959, Associate Professor Le Mau Han, along with Professors Phan Dai Doan, Vu Duong Ninh, Associate Professor Vu Van Ban, and others, were among the first graduating class and were retained to supplement the teaching staff of Hanoi University. Associate Professor Le Mau Han, together with the History Department, overcame the hardships of the resistance war against the US to fulfill their training and research nhiệm vụ. After the country was unified, Associate Professor Le Mau Han was appointed Head of the History Department. He also held the position of Head of Department for the longest period in the history of the Department of History (1976 - 1990).
Associate Professor Le Mau Han dedicated his entire life to researching and teaching the following to many generations of students: the modern history of the nation, the Vietnamese revolution, and the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He participated in the compilation of numerous textbooks and historical works. His spirit and methodology of respecting objective historical truth and accurately assessing historical facts have made his works and articles considered by colleagues and generations of students as exemplary models of serious scientific approach when approaching and researching the history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and modern Vietnamese history.

Associate Professor Le Mau Han's dedication to his work and his contributions have been admired by many generations of students. His reminders, "Historical science is one of the most important tools that can enhance understanding of the past to contribute to understanding the present and guiding the future," have inspired a love of history and a thirst for learning among generations of students. In the memories of many students (not only in the History Department), Associate Professor Le Mau Han was a teacher who was very strict in discipline and serious in scientific research. When he returned home to his family and daily life, Associate Professor Le Mau Han was a simple, warm, and even casual person, enjoying his simple life with his children and grandchildren, and with his beloved orchids, for which he had a secret technique to ensure they bloomed precisely on Tet (Vietnamese New Year).
