On the morning of November 15th, amidst the joyful atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 40th anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, the faculty and students of the Department of Religious Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, solemnly held a ceremony to commemorate Vietnamese Teachers' Day and announced the Decision appointing the Department's leadership board for the 2022-2027 term.
Joining the faculty and students of the Department of Religious Studies in celebrating the occasion were Mr. Ngo Sach Thuc (Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front), Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Chairman of the Scientific Council of Party and Central Agencies, former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Propaganda Department; former first Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ba Trinh (former Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front), and Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung (Vice Chairman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee).
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has Venerable Nun Thich Dam Lan (Permanent Member of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Deputy Head of the Central Nun's Branch, Head of the Social Charity Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha), Venerable Thich Vien Thanh (Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Lam Dong province, Principal of the Lam Dong Provincial Buddhist College); and Nun Dr. Nguyen Thuy Thom (Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front).
Representing Hanoi National University was Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (Head of Training Department).
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities has Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh (Vice Rector).
Together with all lecturers, postgraduate students, undergraduate students of all programs in the Department, former students, and current students of the Department of Religion.
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan congratulated the Department on its achievements over the past six years. Despite being a young unit, established only in 2016, the Department of Religious Studies has proven to be an indispensable component of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Although facing numerous challenges, the Department has now achieved stability in terms of personnel, faculty, and student recruitment. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan congratulated the newly restructured leadership of the Department, and with the efforts of the teachers and students, he expressed confidence that the Department of Religious Studies will continue to develop strongly and achieve many successes in the future.

As one of the people who have been with the Department since its early days, Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc and Professor Phung Huu Phu emotionally shared the difficulties in the Department's establishment and operation in its early years. But above all, the faculty members persevered and made great efforts: recruiting students, opening training programs, supplementing the teaching staff, etc. To date, the Department has trained students at all three levels: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral; the teaching staff is highly qualified, enthusiastic, and passionate about their profession, and the students are dynamic and confident. Furthermore, situated within the ecosystem of the School of Humanities, a leading institution in social sciences and humanities, and boasting top experts in interdisciplinary fields such as political science, history, and cultural studies, the Department of Religious Studies is sure to thrive, becoming a prestigious training institution nationwide, seamlessly integrating theory and practice, integrating with the world, and actively participating in policy consultation and disseminating the Party and State's policies on religion and beliefs.

Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh (Head of Department) expressed her deep gratitude to the leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the leadership of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the veteran teachers who have supported, accompanied, and facilitated the Department's formation and development over the past six years. At the same time, on behalf of the Department's leadership, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh also expressed her determination to maintain unity and cohesion among the leadership and staff to build a stronger Department in all aspects: training, scientific research, and community service.

The 2022-2023 academic year was the first year that Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) applied the Talent Attraction Scholarship for students of the K67 cohort to support and create conditions for the development of basic science disciplines, including Religious Studies.
