Attending the Congress were comrades: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Party Committee Secretary, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and 197 outstanding party members representing nearly 300 party members in the entire Party Committee.

According to the Political Report at the Congress, in the 2015-2020 term, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved important achievements in many fields, successfully completing the set targets. The Party Committee of the University has identified policies and solutions to ensure leadership of professional activities, in which, the work of university enrollment and training in the 2015-2020 period has many innovations.

The school has established a specialized recruitment department under the Training Department; diversified forms of promotion and recruitment consulting; built a management and training organization process, adjusted industry and major planning to build new and suitable training programs. The school has had many policies to support the development of the teaching staff; increased investment in training facilities; strengthened relations with agencies, businesses, political and social organizations, etc.

Therefore, university admissions attracted many applications from 17,478 (in 2015) to 39,980 (in 2019); the number of admitted and enrolled candidates increased from 1,439 (in 2015) to 2,186 (in 2019). Notably, in recent times, the school has built and signed cooperation documents with more than 100 domestic and international partners, including many prestigious universities, research institutes, and scientific organizations.

Activities to attract foreign lecturers have been enhanced with more than 170 foreign experts coming to teach and research. Many school staff have been sent to study, teach, and exchange and cooperate at advanced universities around the world; hundreds of students have received scholarships from international and domestic organizations; many students have the opportunity to study, exchange and interact at foreign universities and partners.

The school has maintained and promoted its position and prestige as a leading university in research in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. The school's scientific staff has chaired and is organizing and implementing 309 scientific research topics at all levels. Many experts have been assigned to lead the implementation of component tasks of major scientific programs of the State. In addition, the school has organized more than 50 major international scientific conferences, published 6 monographs in international publishers, 250 articles in prestigious international journals, etc.

However, in addition to the achieved results, the leadership and implementation of the resolutions and policies of the Party and the State, the Resolutions of VNU and the Resolutions of the Party Committee of the University at some Party cells have not been timely and effective; the Party Committee and some Party cells have not had many solutions to innovate the methods of political and ideological education for cadres and Party members; the leadership capacity, fighting strength and quality of Party activities, the spirit of criticism and self-criticism in some Party cells are still limited, leading to the resolution of ideological problems of cadres and Party members on the issues of the University sometimes not being timely...

With the goal of "Strengthening the leadership role of Party committees at all levels; promoting the tradition, strengths and position of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; mobilizing all resources for comprehensive development of the University, being proactive in university autonomy; making breakthrough innovations in organization - personnel, training, scientific research, advanced university administration; applying modern technology in all fields to develop the University into a research university; providing high-quality human resources in Social Sciences and Humanities to meet the requirements of national development in the context of the fourth industrial revolution and international integration", in the 2020 - 2025 term, the University's Party Committee is determined to innovate comprehensively, synchronously, with focus, key points and appropriate roadmap to build and develop the University.

Accordingly, the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities focuses on leadership solutions to create strong motivation for the construction and development of the school towards a research university; prepare human resources, financial resources, technical facilities, spirit, and be proactive in university autonomy according to the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws; develop a team of experts, especially leading experts; build support policies, promote the strengths of basic sciences, create outstanding scientific identity with high-level training programs of the country; support the development of applied and experimental fields. The school diversifies admission methods on the basis of VNU's regulations to attract quality input sources; promote scientific research, create high-quality, unique products in Social Sciences and Humanities...

Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Nguyen Kim Son, Party Secretary and President of VNU acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has achieved in recent times. Among them, the growth of the young staff, scientific research work and the sharp increase in the number of PhDs in recent years are impressive highlights... "The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a core unit in the development of VNU and is the leading unit in the country in the field of training and research in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities" - Comrade Nguyen Kim Son emphasized.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Director of VNU said that the University needs to have confidence and promote its strengths to prepare for development in a new destiny with internal resources. That is to develop people and culture of the humanistic environment. Notably, the University's Party Committee needs to have effective and breakthrough solutions to promote the development of an advanced research university worthy of its position as the country's leading research training cradle in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Along with that, the Party Committee of the University needs to perfect the organization and training arrangement plan to keep up with the new trend. Continue to foster and enhance aspirations to create a new spirit; continue to promote the transformation process... Notably, it is necessary to pay attention to newly opened majors, nurture and take good care of them so that the new majors as well as the High School for Social Sciences and Humanities can grow and establish a position in the future. Continue to develop high-quality training models to attract and train talents for the country; increase international publications through prestigious articles... All for the goal of building the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to develop, unite, and aim for the most humane things.
