Improving the quality of training programs is a regular and sustainable activity at VNU-USSH.

Improving and enhancing training quality not only serves the purpose of certifying training programs but most importantly, brings the best values ​​to learners.
This is the content discussed at the seminar on Improving the quality of training programs (CTĐT) for the 2024 - 2025 school year organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, this morning, October 2, 2024.
The seminar was attended by Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, leaders and quality assurance assistants, training assistants at faculties/institutes/departments, leaders and specialists of functional departments/centers of the school.

Notes on preparing conditions for quality control of training programs
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the school emphasized that quality culture is the key point of training units, especially units with the mission of leading and taking the lead like the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In recent years, the school has organized many activities to ensure quality and assess programs to improve training quality in a sustainable way.
The seminar is a forum for faculties/institutes/departments and functional departments/centers to review, adjust, improve training programs, and update new requirements in ensuring the school's quality.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities delivered the opening speech at the seminar on improving the quality of training programs.
Reporting on the requirements for improving the quality of training programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Quality Assurance emphasized that the requirements for training quality assurance (QA) have been stipulated by law, becoming more specific and "stricter". The autonomy of training programs towards autonomy of educational institutions is associated with accountability for training quality, existing problems and the need to build a quality culture in the School... requiring quality improvement to be carried out continuously.
The report has updated the criteria for training program standards according to current documents of the Ministry of Education and Training, such as the criteria prescribed in Circular 17/2021 on approaching education based on output standards (CDR); mandatory indicators for monitoring and reporting on training programs according to Circular 01/2024; criteria and conditions in the Draft Circular on training program quality assessment 2024, analyzing and comparing the existing problems in current training programs.
Noting the criteria to meet the requirements for current training quality assessment, Dr. Pham Huy Cuong shared that faculties/institutes/departments need to build training program objectives in accordance with the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework, including general and specialized objectives. The structure and content of training programs are designed and developed in a way that ensures learners achieve objectives and have a learning volume in accordance with regulations. One thing to note is that the objectives of training programs are measured and evaluated at the time learners graduate.

According to the Director of the Center for Higher Education Development, the quantity and quality of lecturers and researchers must meet the requirements of implementing training programs according to regulations; the workload of lecturers and researchers is measured and monitored to improve the quality of training, scientific research and community service. The employment rate including self-employment, entrepreneurship and advanced learning of learners is established, monitored and compared to improve quality.
The report emphasizes that faculties/institutes/departments in the whole school need to be proactive in improving and innovating activities to ensure training quality. Based on the results of periodic reviews, mid-term assessments, self-assessments and periodic external assessments, faculties/institutes/departments develop and implement activities to improve the quality of training programs managed by the unit: Review training program standards at least twice a year; review the entire training program at least once a year; review course syllabuses annually.
Pay special attention to assessing the level of achievement of CDR with students before graduation; organize teaching and learning activities, testing and assessment activities according to CDR approach. In addition, it is necessary to ensure learning materials; Improve the quality of training support activities and learner support; Periodically assess quality, compare and continuously improve quality.
The report also provided advisory opinions to build mechanisms, technical support, and coordination from functional Departments/Centers.

Removing difficulties in preparing for training program accreditation at training units
At the seminar, leaders and quality assurance assistants at faculties/institutes/departments discussed and agreed on the formation of a coordination mechanism to improve the quality of training programs at VNU-USSH.
Speaking at the seminar, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hong Son - Head of the History Department said that accreditation is a regular activity, closely linked to the entire training process of the units. The functional departments/centers have provided timely and close support for the accreditation of training programs of the faculties/institutes/departments. The Head of the History Department proposed that the Quality Assurance Center, as the focal unit, should develop periodic data reports to provide documents with the highest accuracy, convenient for training units in the process of making quality accreditation reports of training programs.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu - Head of the Faculty of Political Science, suggested that it is necessary to further strengthen the role of stakeholders in the activities of developing training programs. The Head of the Faculty of Political Science also emphasized that training units need to prioritize quality assurance requirements according to a number of key criteria of training program quality assessment activities.

Sharing experiences in training quality assessment activities, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Deputy Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training said that the Institute has promoted the initiative of staff and lecturers in the Institute, built volunteer support groups to speed up the process of preparing conditions for assessment activities.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Anthropology said that the faculty has innovated and improved its training programs and activities, and communicated its activities and major information on media channels inside and outside the school, thereby increasing the number of students in the recent enrollment period.

Dr. Vu Anh Thu - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Studies discussed the recognition of lecturers' contributions in the quality assessment of training programs.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Nhung - Deputy Head of the Faculty of Sociology proposed that there should be a unified plan throughout the school regarding the task of surveying learners to serve the activities of assessing the quality of training programs.

Sharing at the seminar, MSc. Pham Van Hue - Deputy Head of Training Department said that the Training Department will have specific instructions on the assessment of the courses, providing relevant data for faculties/institutes/departments to facilitate the preparation process for training quality assessment activities. The ultimate goal is to improve training quality, bringing the best values ​​to learners at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
The representative of the Center for Quality Assurance affirmed that quality assurance activities are a regular and inherent task of all staff, lecturers, faculties/institutes/departments. The school will have specific training activities for quality assurance assistants and lecturers as well as invest resources in improving and enhancing the quality of training programs at VNU-USSH.
