This year's ranking results have a great contribution from the quality and influence of VNU graduates, in which the criteria of Recruitment Results are ranked 202nd in the world and Recruitment Reputation is ranked 472nd in the world.
In this ranking, QS WUR 2025 ranked 1,503 higher education institutions (21 of which were ranked for the first time) out of a total of 5,663 participating higher education institutions from 106 countries and territories.

Regarding the QS WUR 2025 ranking criteria, VNU continues to be highly appreciated by employers when the two criteria with the highest scores are Recruitment Reputation (ranked 472nd in the world - 18.7 points) and Recruitment Outcomes (ranked 202nd in the world - 60.1 points, up 49.3 points compared to the previous ranking). In particular, the Recruitment Outcomes criterion of VNU is ranked 202nd in the world (up 197 places compared to the previous ranking) - also the highest ranking position in Vietnam, demonstrating the position of VNU in terms of the quality of graduates. The Recruitment Outcomes criterion is evaluated through two indicators: Alumni Impact and Graduate Employment Index. In particular, the Alumni Impact Index is calculated by measuring the outstanding achievements and influence of former students (international awards such as Nobel, UNESCO; being a board member of companies on 38 global stock exchanges; being on the Forbes and Time lists; being leaders of important global NGOs and holding important positions in national governments).

In the QS WUR 2025 ranking, in addition to the 5 universities ranked in the previous ranking, Vietnam has 1 more ranked unit, Hue University.
QS WUR 2025 is the second time QS uses a new set of 9 criteria and there is no change in weight compared to the previous ranking period.

In the Southeast Asian region, there are 84 higher education institutions ranked in the QS WUR 2025 Ranking, of which, Malaysia is the Southeast Asian country with the most ranked educational institutions (28), followed by Indonesia (26), Thailand (13), Vietnam (6), Philippines (5), Singapore (4) and Brunei (2). Although only 4 higher education institutions are ranked, Singapore still shows its leading position with 2 higher education institutions in the world group of 20 (National University of Singapore (NUS) ranked 8th and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) ranked 15th).
In the world top 10, educational institutions from the UK and the US continue to maintain their positions with each country having 4 higher education institutions in the top 10. Specifically, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) holds the number 1 position for 12 consecutive years and Imperial College holds the 2nd position in the QS WUR rankings.

Previously, in May 2024, VNU increased its internationalization and research environment criteria in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2024 (THE YUR 2024). VNU with the Teaching criterion (26.6 points - an increase of 2.9 points compared to the THE YUR 2023 ranking - ranked No. 1 in Vietnam) - thereby maintaining its leading position in training activities in Vietnam. In addition, VNU also increased in 2 other criteria groups: Research Environment (15.7 points - an increase of 2.2 points compared to the previous ranking) and Internationalization (48.9 points - an increase of 3.4 points compared to the previous ranking - this is also the group of criteria with the highest score of VNU).
