The conference aimed to evaluate the results of the school's quality assurance and accreditation work in 2023; and to propose plans and solutions to improve the quality of educational facilities and training programs in 2024 and beyond.
The conference was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the University; Dr. Pham Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Quality Assurance in Training; along with representatives from the leadership, training assistants and quality assurance assistants of faculties, institutes and departments; representatives and staff of the Training Department and the Center for Quality Assurance; and representatives and quality assurance assistants of functional departments/centers under the Rectorate.
Representing Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was Dr. Bui Vu Anh - Deputy Director of the Institute for Quality Assurance in Education.
Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the university, gave directives at the Quality Assurance Conference for the 2023-2024 academic year.
In her opening remarks at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the university - emphasized that a culture of quality is a highlight in the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, and that quality improvement is identified as a key task for the university in 2024.
Over the years, the school has organized numerous quality assurance and program accreditation activities to sustainably improve the quality of education.
Accordingly, since 2016, the school has organized self-assessment activities for its training programs. In 2017, two undergraduate programs, Vietnamese Studies and Psychology, were accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training.
In 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had 8 training programs accredited according to AUN and Ministry of Education and Training standards, and it is expected that by the end of 2024, 100% of the university's undergraduate training programs will be accredited, making it a pioneering university within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi in quality accreditation activities.
The school's quality assurance work has been implemented in depth with a system of documents and regulations on quality assurance policies, an internal quality assurance information system and educational quality benchmarking, regulations on community service activities, scholarly networking, employer networking, etc.
Dr. Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Training Quality Assurance, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
Based on the overall picture of quality assurance activities at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2023, Dr. Huy Cuong - Director of the Center for Training Quality Assurance, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - offered recommendations for improvement to faculties/institutes/departments in training quality assurance activities. Accordingly, training units need to develop indicators for connecting and cooperating between units with employers, domestic and foreign experts; develop indicators for connecting with student volunteers; consider developing indicators for community service within the unit, gradually assigning tasks to lecturers, researchers, and staff. Dr. Huy Cuong emphasized that units need to develop, implement, and evaluate the results of the implementation of the quality improvement plan for the training programs under their management. Proactively organize/coordinate activities to exchange experiences and enhance the capacity of faculty members in developing course syllabi, teaching methods, and assessment methods based on the learning outcomes approach.

Associate Professor Bui Thanh Nam - Vice Chairman of the University Council and Head of the Training Department - emphasized that ensuring the quality of graduates to provide high-quality human resources for society is a consistent policy of the university. Ensuring, maintaining, and continuously improving the quality of training is a central task for all units throughout the university, contributing to enriching the educational tradition and brand of the university in the current highly competitive environment. Quality assurance activities require comprehensive collaboration from the University's Board of Directors to the leaders of faculties/institutes/departments in activities such as student recruitment, training programs, faculty, learning materials, and policies.
In addition, training institutions need to participate in benchmarking the quality of their training programs with those of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, in order to gain a comprehensive view.
Dr. Bui Vu Anh - Deputy Director of the Institute for Quality Assurance in Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, shared experiences and provided guidance on the evaluation criteria and ranking indicators of universities at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The conference received input from the leaders of faculties/institutes/departments on the university's current quality assurance activities. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Chieu - Head of the Faculty of Political Science - assessed that the system of documents on quality assurance in training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is well-structured, quality accreditation activities are effective, and the quality assurance information system has a high degree of consistency. In addition, the Head of the Faculty of Political Science proposed that the university needs to digitize its database in a unified manner, have a plan for inter-faculty/institute training, and have a plan for periodically reviewing courses and groups of courses to serve the needs of learners and meet the requirements of the labor market.
