This information was reported at the 2024 Finance Conference of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-USSH, held this morning, January 15, 2025, with the participation of representatives from the Board of Directors, leaders, and staff from all units within the university.
In his opening remarks at the conference, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized that in 2024, despite the numerous challenges and pressures, financial work proceeded smoothly, efficiently, and successfully. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his hope to receive contributions and recommendations from leaders and staff of various units to ensure the most favorable financial management in 2025.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the efforts of the school's financial planning staff over the past year.
In her report on the 2024 financial situation, Ms. Kim Thi Diep Ha, Head of the Planning and Finance Department, stated that revenue from training courses specifically for large organizations and businesses, as well as revenue from scientific research activities and local research projects, increased, demonstrating effective cooperation between the university and its partners and affirming the university's scientific prestige over the past year. However, traditional revenue from service centers with foreign partners decreased, so the causes need to be identified and adjustments made in 2025.
Over the past year, the school has effectively utilized its career development fund, investing in faculty training and scientific research activities for faculty and students, and proactively balancing revenue sources to ensure activities are carried out according to plan. All funding sources are publicly disclosed and transparent, with information posted on the school's website and other communication channels.
A key highlight is that in the 2024 expenditure structure, human resources accounted for 74%; while scholarships and student internships accounted for 6.8%. The average income of faculty, staff, and workers in 2024 is expected to increase by 5-7% compared to 2023. This reflects the university's policy of prioritizing investment in improving the quality of its highly qualified scientific staff, considering this a strategic solution in the long-term development orientation of VNU-USSH.
Ms. Kim Thi Diep Ha, Head of the Planning and Finance Department, reported on the financial work in 2024 and the plan for 2025.
In 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities aims to invest in the accreditation of its training programs, identifying this as a regular task to improve the quality of its training and scientific research activities. Financial planning needs to closely adhere to state budget allocations; ensure timely and sufficient collection of tuition fees; increase revenue from services and professional activities; and ensure expenditures are allocated appropriately, balancing revenue and expenditure to guarantee the university's development towards financial autonomy from 2026 onwards.
