VNU-USSH focuses on developing high-quality human resources

This is the information reported at the 2024 Financial Conference of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) held this morning, January 15, 2025, with the participation of representatives of the Board of Directors, leaders and experts of units throughout the school.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized that in 2024, although the financial work was busy, with many difficulties and pressures, it took place smoothly, closely and well. Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed that the conference hoped to receive comments and recommendations from leaders and experts of the units so that the financial work in 2025 would be most favorable.
Principal Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the efforts of the school's financial planning staff over the past year.
Reporting on the financial situation in 2024, Ms. Kim Thi Diep Ha - Head of the Financial Planning Department said that revenue from training courses specifically for large organizations and enterprises, revenue from scientific research activities, implementation of local research topics... has increased, demonstrating effective cooperation between the school and partner units, affirming the school's scientific reputation in the past year. However, the traditional revenue of service centers from foreign partners has decreased, so it is necessary to find the cause to adjust in 2025.
Last year, the school effectively used the career development fund, invested in lecturer training activities, scientific research activities of lecturers and students, proactively balanced revenue sources to ensure activities according to the plan. Funding sources are public, transparent, and posted on the school's website and information channels.
The highlight is that in the expenditure structure in 2024, expenditure for human resources accounts for 74%; expenditure for scholarships and practical internships for students accounts for 6.8%. The average income of staff, lecturers and employees in 2024 will increase by 5-7% compared to 2023. This demonstrates the school's policy of investing in improving the quality of highly qualified scientific staff, considering this a strategic solution in the long-term development orientation of VNU-USSH.

In 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities plans to invest in the accreditation of training programs, identifying this as a regular task to improve the quality of training and scientific research activities. Financial planning activities need to closely follow the state budget; tuition revenue must be correct, sufficient, and timely; increase service and professional revenue sources; ensure spending on the right tasks, balance revenue and expenditure plans to ensure the school's development towards financial autonomy from 2026.
Ms. Le Thi Quyen - Deputy Head of Financial Planning Department shared good news with the entire conference with information about the source of spending for Tet bonuses and the school's salary fund increasing compared to 2023.
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh - Head of the Language Department, Director of the Language Center shared that he needs the support of the Financial Planning Department in solving financial matters when changing the Center's operating model.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Long - Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies expressed his support for financial activities and shared budget allocation to training units.
Dr. Pham Hoang Giang - Head of Philosophy Department expressed that the school invests in the activities of faculties training in basic sciences.
Concluding the conference, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized that 2025 is the year of standardizing financial work, requiring financial staff in all units in the whole school to improve their skills, resolve settlements promptly and transparently. The financial picture of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2026 will need to have highlights to ensure regular spending activities, ensure welfare and increase income for staff, lecturers, employees as well as research and training activities of the school.
