Knowledge about religion and beliefs is extremely rich, vibrant and closely linked to cultural, economic and social life, especially in a multi-religious country like Vietnam.
In addition, modern social life is seeing the emergence of new religious and belief phenomena that require explanation, evaluation, and correct understanding from the perspective of Religious Science. Therefore, Religious Studies is increasingly playing an important role in Vietnam as well as in the world.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Kim Oanh, Head of the Department of Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, currently, the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is still the first unit to train all three levels of Bachelor, Master and Doctor of Religious Studies in Vietnam.
The training program of Religious Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities focuses on equipping students with systematic and in-depth knowledge of religious theory, religions in the world, the role and position of religion in social life, and at the same time has high interdisciplinary nature and wide applicability in practice.
In addition, increase practice and train students with necessary skills for work after graduation.
Associate Professor Dr. Oanh said that graduates of Religious Studies can apply for many diverse job positions at central and local management agencies of culture, religion, and beliefs; research and training units; religious organizations in Vietnam, media agencies, newspapers, publishing houses, etc.
It is known that in the near future, the Department of Religious Studies will soon open a new major to train specialized staff in state management in religious and belief activities, meeting the great demand for human resources today.
