Nine VNU-USSH students received full scholarships from the Chinese Government in 2023.

These valuable scholarships were awarded to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) at the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam on August 3, 2023.

Attending the Ceremony to award Certificates of Enrollment to successful candidates of the Chinese Government Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy were Mr. Xiong Ba - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, Mr. Zheng Dawei - Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Wang Dingguan - First Secretary, and many other representatives of the Embassy;
Representing the Ministry of Education and Training was Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation.
Representing the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Vice Rector of the university, along with 9 students out of a total of 33 students, undergraduates, and postgraduate researchers nationwide who were honored to receive scholarships from the Chinese government.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Hung Ba introduced the achievements of China in recent years as well as the good cooperative relationship in the field of education between the two countries. The Ambassador extended his congratulations and hoped that the Vietnamese students awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship would serve as a bridge to further strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and China.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, delivered a speech at the ceremony.
Sharing the honor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities being the training institution with the highest number of candidates receiving scholarships from the Chinese Government in Vietnam, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong stated that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the leading training and research centers in the field of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. Furthermore, the University has bilateral cooperation relationships with many prestigious universities and educational organizations in China, regularly engaging in active and effective professional exchanges.
Every year, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) welcomes hundreds of Chinese students, trainees, and researchers to study and conduct scientific research. USSH currently offers 31 undergraduate programs, 44 master's programs, and 31 doctoral programs, many of which attract international students in general, and Chinese students in particular, such as: undergraduate programs in Vietnamese Studies, Linguistics, Political Science, International Studies, etc.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong extended her congratulations to the nine students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, and to all Vietnamese students in general, who had successfully passed many rigorous examination rounds to receive the valuable scholarship from the Chinese Government for the 2023-2024 academic year. Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong hoped that the students would study well and continue to spread the friendly and warm image and culture of Vietnamese people in China.

Over the past 10 years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has received nearly 100 scholarships from the Government of the People's Republic of China (through the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam) for its staff, lecturers, and students. In 2023, nine outstanding candidates recommended by the university were awarded Chinese Government scholarships and accepted by leading universities in China, such as: Beijing Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Foreign Language University, Heilongjiang University, Guangdong University of Foreign Languages ​​and Commerce, Anhui University, and East China University. These students come from majors such as Oriental Studies, Sino-Vietnamese Studies, Anthropology, and Tourism Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University.
Student Do Khanh Van, majoring in Oriental Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is honored to receive a full scholarship from the Chinese Government.
Do Khanh Van, a student majoring in Oriental Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and one of nine students to receive the scholarship, said: “I chose to apply to the International Chinese Language Education major, to delve into the study of language and teaching methods.”
The student majoring in Oriental Studies also revealed that at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, students learn Chinese and use it to learn about China through its culture, history, economy, and politics. From this, Khanh Van cultivated a love for the Chinese language, and with the support of her teachers, she successfully applied for a scholarship.
Khanh Van shared: “Receiving a scholarship from the Government of the People's Republic of China has given me the opportunity to study and research the Chinese language in greater depth, to learn about and experience the culture of a foreign country, thereby accumulating more new experiences and knowledge. This is truly a valuable opportunity for VNU-USSH students.”

Over the years, Vietnam and China have engaged in extensive educational cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Chinese government has nurtured numerous talented individuals for Vietnam's peacebuilding efforts. During the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, the Chinese government has further strengthened educational cooperation between the two countries through student exchanges, teacher-school exchanges, and has expressed its willingness to share experiences on educational reform with Vietnam. It has also supported the development of Chinese language teaching in Vietnam and Vietnamese language teaching in China, and promoted academic exchanges between research institutions in both countries.
Vietnamese students who received scholarships from the Chinese government, after studying at top universities in China, have returned to their country and made very practical contributions to the development of Vietnam, further strengthening the close ties and friendship between the two countries.
Chinese Government ScholarshipThis program is implemented annually, awarding 69 full scholarships to Vietnamese citizens for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in China (including 10 scholarships for students majoring in Chinese language). The duration of the doctoral program is 3 to 5 academic years; the master's program is 2 to 4 academic years; and the undergraduate program is 4 to 5 academic years.
The Chinese government provides tuition-free education, accommodation, health insurance, study materials, and a monthly scholarship at a rate set by the Chinese government.
