Following the success of the two previous examination sessions, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has prepared the best conditions to ensure that the examination is conducted smoothly and safely: facilities (examination area, examination rooms, equipment system, internet network), medical, security, and technical staff on duty 24/7 throughout the examination period, professional and attentive invigilators and reception staff, etc.
The 2023 National University of Hanoi's aptitude test consists of 3 parts and lasts 195 minutes:
Part 1: Quantitative Reasoning (Mathematics, 50 questions – 75 minutes).
Part 2: Qualitative Reasoning (Literature - Language, 50 questions - 60 minutes)
Part 3 - Science (Natural and Social Sciences, 50 questions – 60 minutes).
Specifically, Part 1 and Part 2: Knowledge from the 10th grade curriculum: 10%, knowledge from the 11th grade curriculum: 20%, knowledge from the 12th grade curriculum: 70%. Part 3: Knowledge from the 11th grade curriculum: 30%, knowledge from the 12th grade curriculum: 70%.
Immediately after the exam ended, the students knew their scores. In 2023, more than 70 schools used the results of the Hanoi National University's Aptitude Test as a basis for admission.
In line with the core objectives of the new general education program (emphasizing competency development) and consistent with global competency assessment standards and trends, the HAS exam is designed to assess the essential core competencies of high school students: Problem-solving and creative skills; Vietnamese language skills, reasoning, logical thinking, calculation, and data processing; and the ability to explore, discover, and apply science (Natural and Social Sciences).
According to students' feedback after the exam: the questions covered knowledge from the high school curriculum, encompassing many fields in natural and social sciences. Therefore, to perform well, students needed broad and comprehensive knowledge, avoiding selective or rote learning. Furthermore, to achieve high scores, especially on difficult questions (level 3), students needed creativity and high-level application, rather than simply memorizing knowledge from the high school curriculum.
