The exam attracted nearly 90 foreign candidates from various countries such as South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan (China), Ukraine, Russia, etc. The exam consisted of four skills: Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Writing, and Speaking. Candidates took the Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, and Writing tests on computers. The Speaking test was taken in person with an instructor in a separate examination room.
The Listening Skills test consists of 4 parts: Part 1 - Candidates listen to a question or situation and then choose the correct answer; Parts 2, 3, and 4 - Candidates listen to a dialogue or text and then choose the correct answer.
The Reading Comprehension test consists of 40 questions; candidates read the following excerpts and then choose the correct answer.
The Writing skills test consists of three parts: Part 1 - Listening and dictation; Part 2 - Responding to a letter; Part 3 - Writing an essay.
The Speaking test consists of three parts: Part 1 - Answering questions; Part 2 - Discussing and choosing one of the given options; Part 3 - Candidates speak about a given general or academic topic (they may use provided ideas or develop their own).

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has over 50 years of tradition in teaching Vietnamese to foreigners and is one of the few institutions officially assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training to organize Vietnamese language proficiency assessment exams for foreigners. Since 2023, VNU-USSH has for the first time introduced a set of assessment standards and exam questions to evaluate Vietnamese language proficiency for foreign students on a computer-based system. Organizing Vietnamese language proficiency assessments for foreigners on computers will make the assessment process more comprehensive, flexible, and adaptable, creating more favorable conditions for those wishing to take the assessment.
