Starting from the second round of postgraduate admissions in 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) replaced the traditional examination content for all 44 master's degree programs (two essay exams, 180 minutes each) with a system of evaluating applications and interviewing candidates.
On May 27th, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, announced that the university's postgraduate admissions process has undergone several changes to align with methods adopted by leading universities worldwide. Specifically, instead of traditional entrance exams, postgraduate admissions will now focus on evaluating applications and conducting interviews.
The application review process aims to provide an overview of the candidate's academic abilities, work experience, and scientific research capabilities. The interview consists of questions focused on assessing the candidate's specialized knowledge in each field, along with practical knowledge and experience in handling problems during their work, thereby directly and accurately evaluating the candidate's suitability and ability to meet the requirements of the training program. This is also the admissions method used by leading universities worldwide.
Among the 44 Master's degree programs, 13 accept students from all disciplines, including: Journalism (applied focus), Public Policy; Political Science (applied focus); Social Work (applied focus); Tourism Studies; Library and Information Science (applied focus); Theory and History of Film and Television; Science and Technology Management (research-oriented); Science and Technology Management (applied focus); Cultural Management; Office Management (applied focus); Media and Communication Management; and Religious Studies (applied focus).
In addition, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, applies a special direct admission policy for students with a GPA of "good" or higher in all accredited majors according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training or reputable international accreditation organizations (AUN-QA, ABET, etc.). Furthermore, students with excellent grades are not only directly admitted to their chosen major but also have the option to be directly admitted to other suitable majors.
| Notably, to facilitate the application process, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, has also opened an admissions portal.http://tssdh.vnu.edu.vnCandidates can register online, and applicants only need to submit their documents after passing the exam and being admitted to the school. |
