Accordingly, the Digital Competency Framework was developed with the goal of helping students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities acquire the necessary digital competencies to live, study, work and participate in social communication proactively, positively and safely in the digital environment.
This digital competency framework is widely used and provided to all organizations and training units as a reference document to develop digital competency programs for each specific subject.
The digital competency framework for students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi includes 7 competency groups with 26 criteria:
1. Equipment and software operation
2. Information & Data Mining
3. Communication and collaboration in digital environments
4. Digital safety and security
5. Digital content creation
6. Learning and developing digital skills
7. Using digital skills for career
The specific competencies described in each of these large competency groups are also classified and rearranged in a direction that emphasizes less technical factors in operations, focusing on applying technology to practice through attitude, empathy, critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation.
Previously, in November 2022, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges and Meta Group, organized the Workshop "Digital Competency for Students in the Context of Digital Transformation of Higher Education". At the Workshop, a group of experts from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities announced the first Digital Competency Framework for Students in Vietnam, based on the research process and reference to many popular digital competency frameworks in the world. This competency framework has been widely referenced by domestic training institutions to develop digital competency development programs, with the goal of helping learners acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to study, work and communicate positively and safely in a digital environment. At the same time, two documents, the "Digital Competency Development Handbook" and the "Digital Competency Monograph", were introduced in detail by the editorial team at the workshop on the content and how to use it effectively.
The proactive research and application of the digital competency framework for students as well as the pioneering in digital transformation that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been implementing in recent times have been highly appreciated by the attending delegates.

At the workshop, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities emphasized that Vietnamese students have all the qualities and opportunities to develop comprehensively in the digital environment. These are the factors that will be the pillars and owners of the country in the future, so being equipped with digital capacity to prepare for entering the labor market is extremely important. What is needed now is to equip young people with basic knowledge and skills about the digital world, providing them with a multi-dimensional view, helping to build a unique value system based on the spirit of respecting differences, the ability to empathize and the ability to be reasonable.
