Ms. Hoang Phuong - Program Assistant said, Fulbright Program was established in 1946 and funded by the US Congress to promote mutual understanding between countries through academic and cultural exchange. The program welcomes the participation of scholars who are teaching and researching in the fields of social sciences and humanities, science and technology. Every year, from 07 to 10 scholars are selected to participate in the program.
Scholars participating in the program are provided with a stipend to cover living expenses, transportation, health and accident insurance for the duration of the grant. Typical stipends are for 5 months (one-semester stipend) or 9 months (two-semester stipend).
The working session attracted many young lecturers from the faculties of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.

Lecturers attending the meeting from the Faculty of Oriental Studies and International Studies of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, were very interested in the information of the program as well as learning about international scholar exchange opportunities. Questions from VNU-USSH lecturers about participation conditions and application procedures were answered by representatives of the Fulbright Program Vietnam.
Exchanging lecturers and students with prestigious organizations and universities in the world has been one of the vibrant activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, for many years in order to carry out the school's core mission of constantly improving the quality of training and highly qualified scientific staff.

Information about the Fulbright Vietnam Scholar Program:
Application deadline:
Before 17:00 October 15, 2022(Vietnam time)
Admission criteria:The program is open to all applicants who meet the following minimum criteria:
1. Be a Vietnamese citizen;
2. Have an MA or Ph.D. degree (or equivalent in certain specific professions);
3. Have sufficient English language skills to conduct research and/or give presentations in the United States.
4. Applicants must be university lecturers, government officials, private sector professionals, working at consulting agencies or holding similar positions.
5. Applicants must have a significant record of academic or professional achievement.
6. Candidates must reside in Vietnam throughout the nomination and selection process, and they must return to Vietnam upon completion of their stay in the United States.
Selection process:1. The Fulbright Program sends funding notices to universities, colleges and research institutes across Vietnam every year.
2. A peer review panel is convened to select candidates, based on academic merit, potential to become important figures in their field, and innovative research topics or methods.
3. After the committee makes recommendations on candidates, the Fulbright Program will interview these candidates to assess their English proficiency.
4. The program will submit its recommendations to IIE for further evaluation.
5. Once the applicants' profiles are evaluated, IIE will forward its selection of candidates to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, which makes the final selection of participants.
