VNU-USSH partners with Thanh Hoa province to promote cultural values and heritage.

Within the framework of the cooperation program between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) and the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province and its units and universities, the University's delegation held a working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province to discuss cooperation directions on promoting cultural values and heritage.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Vuong Thi Hai Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, highly appreciated the proposals and suggestions from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities following a survey and practical research in the locality. According to her, many of the contents presented by the University focused on key issues and were consistent with the development orientation of Thanh Hoa's culture, sports, and tourism sector in both the short and long term.

The Department's specialized divisions have studied each proposal group to clarify the tasks being implemented, the content that can be incorporated, the areas for collaborative research, and the issues requiring further in-depth discussion. The Department hopes that the University will leverage its strengths in research, policy consulting, and its team of experts to work with the locality to concretize the ideas into feasible tasks.

Comrade Vuong Thi Hai Yen highly appreciated the cooperation proposals of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son – Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – stated that Thanh Hoa province possesses a particularly rich system of historical and cultural heritage, with great potential for further research, preservation, and promotion of its value in conjunction with the development of tourism and cultural industries.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son, the university's strength lies in its interdisciplinary team of experts in the fields of history, culture, anthropology, political science, international studies, and many other social sciences and humanities. This is the foundation for VNU-USSH to collaborate with Thanh Hoa province, from foundational research and policy advice to the development of specific programs, projects, and applied products.

One of the directions that the University pays special attention to is linking the preservation and promotion of heritage with science and technology, especially information technology, databases, big data, and digital solutions. The University also has extensive experience in researching, collecting, standardizing, and "repatriating" Vietnamese cultural documents currently preserved abroad, thereby supplementing historical, cultural, and educational resources.

Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hong Son participated in the discussion at the working session.

Based on the functions, tasks, and professional strengths of each unit, the two sides exchanged and discussed several areas of cooperation in the field of history and culture. The suggested topics focused on research, preservation, and promotion of heritage values; application of science and technology in heritage exploitation; development of cultural tourism; and knowledge transfer for local use.

Some of the topics discussed included: the project commemorating the 600th anniversary of the founding of the Later Le Dynasty (1428-2026); the development and completion of the Archaeological Planning in the province; the development of a comprehensive plan for the management, preservation, and promotion of the value of historical sites and scenic spots in Thanh Hoa province for the period 2026–2031, with a vision to 2040; research, restoration, and standardization of the ceremonial system at the Le Dynasty's Royal Ancestral Temple; and research and restoration of the palace architecture at Ho Dynasty Citadel using 3D/VR virtual reality technology.

In addition, the two sides also discussed the possibility of coordinating excavations, research, and proposing solutions to promote the value of the ancient capital complex of Van Lai - Yen Truong; developing a "Thanh Hoa Heritage Tourism Journey" project linked to the development of the cultural industry; researching and developing a project to preserve and promote the cultural values of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development; and verifying, standardizing, and digitizing ancient texts and cultural heritage.

The above contents are initial proposals for both sides to further research, select, and concretize based on practical needs, resources, implementation mechanisms, and current regulations.

The meeting further affirmed the direction of cooperation between VNU-USSH and agencies and units of Thanh Hoa province, based on the principles of science and technology, innovation, and knowledge transfer. Through this, the research results of the University will not only have academic value but will also contribute to solving practical problems, helping to preserve heritage, promote cultural resources, and serve the sustainable socio-economic development of the locality.
