Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Tran Minh Hoan - Director of the Department of Science and Technology said that the compilation of Nam Dinh Gazetteer is a special scientific and technological task of Nam Dinh province. This project has received close guidance from the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the cooperation of scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU.
“With the participation of leading scientists in the fields of history, geography and culture, we believe that the task of compiling Nam Dinh Gazetteer will be carried out seriously and urgently, bringing about products rich in scientific and practical value,” emphasized the Director of the Department of Science and Technology.
Mr. Tran Minh Hoan - Director of the Department of Science and Technology emphasized that compiling Nam Dinh Gazetteer is a special science and technology task of Nam Dinh province.
Sharing the honor of the school when being trusted by the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province to choose as the unit to preside over the implementation of the task of compiling the Nam Dinh Geographical Record, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU affirmed that the school has invited leading scientists in various fields to participate in the compilation, with the desire to bring a scientific product of high value, contributing to the development of science, education, raising the intellectual level of the people, serving policy making, socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, contributing to the completion of the national science and technology task, especially the construction of the Vietnam National Geographical Record according to the Prime Minister's Decision No. 2079/QD-TTg dated December 22, 2017.
“In 2003, the 900-page Nam Dinh Gazetteer - a scientific product in collaboration between the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, after being compiled, caused a great stir. Now, after 20 years, the Nam Dinh Gazetteer will be newly compiled based on the standards of the Vietnam National Gazetteer, on the basis of recording, describing, and providing information in a complete, objective, and truthful manner. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is determined to invest in human resources, material resources, together with scientists and relevant agencies of Nam Dinh province to soon complete the project in the best way possible.”
Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU affirmed that the Nam Dinh Gazetteer will be compiled by a team of leading scientists in various fields.
Speaking at the task, Mr. Tran Le Doai - Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh province affirmed that the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies will closely coordinate with scientists of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, determined to carry out scientific and technological tasks of great significance to the development of the locality. The school needs to have a specific plan in implementing the task, at the same time the Provincial People's Committee will support personnel so that scientists can carry out the task in the most favorable way.
Vice Chairman of Nam Dinh Province Tran Le Doai affirmed that the Provincial People's Committee will closely coordinate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to resolutely carry out scientific and technological tasks of great significance to the local development.
Agreeing with the policy and determination of the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee in implementing this important task, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Project Manager shared that scientists of VNU-USSH will devote their efforts, intelligence and enthusiasm to complete the compilation of Nam Dinh Gazetteer on schedule before May 2025 with the highest scientific and practical value.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU is a unit with a lot of experience in compiling local geographical maps. However, building a geographical map according to new criteria has many new and difficult points. Therefore, scientists of VNU-USSH have spent more than 01 year researching the content of the geographical map of Nam Dinh province, organizing scientific seminars, and project research groups before signing the contract for this scientific task. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc also shared his wish to invite local experts to participate in compiling the geographical map to contribute to bringing practical values to the project.
