The Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam offers master's and doctoral programs in Party History.

Since 1988, following the university's policy, the Party History Department of the Marxist-Leninist Studies Division, under the university's direct supervision, was dissolved, and its teachers were transferred to the Party History Department of the Faculty of History. From then on, the Party History Department simultaneously assumed two important functions and tasks: the function of the Party History Department under the Faculty of History, which was to research and train Party History graduates according to the Faculty of History's curriculum and textbooks; and the function of the Marxist-Leninist and Ho Chi Minh Thought Department, which was to teach Party History according to the curriculum and textbooks of the Ministry of Education and Training to students in faculties and majors that were not specialized in history.

By 1990, the Department of Historical Sciences was assigned the additional task of training doctoral and master's students in the field of Historical Sciences.

From October 2013, the Center for Training and Development of Political Theory Lecturers (TTĐTBDGVLLCT) under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) was dissolved, and the lecturers of the Party History Department of the Center transferred to work at the Party History Department of the Faculty of History. Accordingly, the Party History Department of the Faculty of History both teaches the course "The Revolutionary Line of the Party" to students throughout VNU and trains bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students specializing in Party History.

To date (2017), after more than 43 years of development and striving, the Department of Historical Studies of the Faculty of History has achieved the following:Many commendable achievements.

Celebrating 40 Years of the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1974-2014)

Firstly, a team of staff has been built.They possess good character, sound ideology, strong political acumen, and high professional qualifications. Currently, the Department has 8 full-time lecturers, including 4 Associate Professors/Doctors/Senior Lecturers (Ngo Dang Tri, Vu Quang Hien, Le Van Thinh, Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa), 3 Doctors (Le Thi Quynh Nga, Pham Thi Luong Dieu, Do Thi Thanh Loan), and 1 Master/PhD Candidate (Pham Minh The).

In addition, the Department also hascooperative relationshipTraining and research are conducted with institutions related to Party history such as: the Institute of Party History, the Ho Chi Minh Institute, the Institute of Party Building, the Institute of International Relations ( thuộc the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy), the Department of Party History (Political Academy - Ministry of National Defense); the Department of Party History (Academy of Journalism & Communication), the Department of Party History (National Political Academy Region 1), the Department of History (Hanoi Pedagogical University 1 and 2), the Institute of History, the Institute of Military History, the Institute of International Studies (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)... and with more than 50 reputable scientists specializing in Party history, Ho Chi Minh Thought, Vietnamese history, world history, military history,... inside and outside the Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Secondly, it has been built.We have developed training programs and trained a large number of qualified personnel with bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in the field of Legal Studies, with good quality.As of 2017, the Department of Party History had trained nearly 1,000 bachelors, over 600 masters, and nearly 80 doctors specializing in Party History, and participated in training and professional development for Party History teachers for the Ministry of Education and Training (including at the Center). Graduates from the Department of Party History, including bachelors, masters, doctors, and teachers, have made positive contributions to society, especially in teaching the subject of the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam (the revolutionary line of the Communist Party of Vietnam) at universities and colleges nationwide.

Thirdly, they have achieved many accomplishments in scientific research.Faculty members of the Department of History have published over 700 research papers (both individual and collaborative). Among them, Associate Professor Le Mau Han has over 30 papers and research projects; Associate Professor Ngo Dang Tri has published over 60 books; and Associate Professor Vu Quang Hien has published over 150 articles…

Wednesday,Emphasis has been placed on exchanges, research, and field trips both domestically and internationally.Every year, in addition to a field trip for fourth-year History majors, since 1991, with the support of the Party Committee, the School's Board of Directors, and the Faculty of History, the History Department has organized a field trip for teachers (during the summer) to countries such as China, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, etc.; or Phu Quoc, Con Dao, Dien Bien, Ca Mau, the Central Highlands, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, Tay Ninh, An Giang, etc. Many teachers from the Department have attended scientific conferences and advanced training programs in France, Germany, Russia, Australia, the United States, Thailand, South Korea, etc.

Through continuous efforts and dedication, the lecturers of the Department have received various awards.titleHonorable recipients include: People's Teacher (Le Mau Han), Meritorious Teacher (Ngo Dang Tri), Third-Class Labor Medal (Le Mau Han, Ngo Dang Tri, Vu Quang Hien, Nguyen Huy Cat...). The Department of Party History has received Certificates of Merit from Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Prime Minister.Third-class Labor Medalof the President of the Republic.

Upcoming,when the subject of Party History is taught again.In universities and colleges, the task of training bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates, as well as providing professional development for lecturers in the subject of Party History, is certainly important.,The teaching of Party History by the Department will increase.
