The Faculty of Management Science celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Head of the Faculty of Management Science) reviewed the outstanding achievements of the Faculty: Since 1995, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has begun training in Social Management. In 1999, the postgraduate program in Science and Technology Management was established, and this was also the time when the University began developing specializations in Intellectual Property. These were the first foundations for the later formation of the Faculty of Management Science. On September 30, 2002, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi signed a decision to establish the Department of Management Science under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, based on the merger of the Department of Social Management of the Faculty of Philosophy and the Department of Scientific Theory of the Faculty of Sociology. On August 11, 2006, the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi signed a decision to establish the Faculty of Management Science with the main function and task of providing undergraduate and postgraduate training and scientific research in the field of Management Science.

The Faculty currently has 5 departments: Department of Science and Technology Management and Innovation, Department of Intellectual Property Management, Department of Social Management, Department of Management Theory and Methods, and Department of Public Policy. The Faculty's permanent staff includes 3 Associate Professors, 5 PhDs, and 13 Masters. Regarding training, the Faculty has been implementing Bachelor's degree programs in Management Science (standard and high-quality programs); 4 Master's programs: Master of Science and Technology Management (research-oriented and application-oriented), Master of Management Science, Master of Science and Technology Management in collaboration with Lund University (Sweden) under Project 165 of the Central Organizing Committee, Master of Public Policy (enrollment to begin in 2018); and a Doctorate in Science and Technology Management, along with many short-term training courses on policy planning skills, leadership and management skills, and intellectual property law for various student groups.

Regarding the curriculum and teaching materials, the Faculty has developed 84 sets of learning materials and textbooks for 89 undergraduate courses, and 21 sets of learning materials for 24 master's degree programs, including 9 sets in English. The Faculty has trained 1932 full-time undergraduates, 1728 part-time undergraduates, 498 master's graduates in Science and Technology Management, 116 master's graduates in Management Science, and 70 doctoral graduates in Science and Technology Management.

The Faculty's staff published 7 articles in ISI/Scopus-listed journals, 99 articles with ISSN numbers, led 29 research projects of various types, including 7 state-level projects, implemented 13 international projects, published 30 monographs and 9 translated documents; organized over 40 domestic conferences, 35 international conferences, and more than 60 seminars of various types.

The Faculty has established a strong and regular international network with more than 30 prestigious agencies and universities both domestically and abroad, such as the Intellectual Property Office, Tsinghua University (China), National University of Singapore, Lund University (Sweden), and the Rosa Luxemburg Institute (Germany); it also collaborates with the National Assembly Office and local ministries and departments to implement cooperation activities with businesses, connect supply and demand, and support students in finding employment opportunities.

Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) stated: "Management Science is a special and highly interdisciplinary field within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Over the past period, the Faculty has achieved many accomplishments, one of which is the development of training programs at all three levels: bachelor's, master's, and doctoral. In particular, the Faculty has very strong international cooperation activities. In the future, the biggest challenge is managing human resources in the context of the 4.0 revolution, ensuring that human resource management is professional and wins the hearts and minds of people. And I believe that, with the support from the University and from within and outside the university over the past 15 years, the Faculty of Management Science will certainly achieve its goals in the future."

Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung presented the Certificate of Commendation from the Minister of Science and Technology to the Faculty of Management Science and to Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong for their achievements in scientific research and contributions to promoting training during the period 2012-2016.

Comrade Nguyen Quang Phuc (Chairman of the Hai Duong Provincial Fatherland Front Committee) presented the Certificate of Commendation from the Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee to the Faculty of Management Science and Associate Professor Dr. Dao Thanh Truong (Head of the Faculty of Management Science), and Associate Professor Dr. Pham Ngoc Thanh (Head of the Department of Management Theory and Methods) for their outstanding achievements in training human resources for Hai Duong province.

The ceremony also witnessed the signing of an official cooperation agreement between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Binh Minh Testing and Mapping Company Limited. Accordingly, the University will support the training of Master's students in Science and Technology Management for the company.

As part of the activities celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Faculty, there were many celebratory events for students such as: a camp, a "Golden Bell" quiz competition, and a student cultural gala.
