A summer of volunteering is about to begin. Youth union members from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities are making the most urgent preparations for their journeys to immerse themselves in real-life situations. On this occasion, Mr. Trinh Minh Thai, M.Sc. - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, provides some information and shares his feelings and experiences with the students.
- Could you please tell us about the objectives and operating principles of the Student Union in the 2012 student volunteer campaign? The summer volunteer activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities always adhere to the guidelines of the Hanoi Youth Union, with close attention and direction from the University's Party Committee. This year's student volunteer campaign motto is "Youth of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities join hands to build new rural areas," based on the principles of safety, effectiveness, practicality, and the application and development of the University's expertise and strengths in the volunteer areas. The goal is to create a healthy environment for union members and students to train, cultivate, and have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and contribute to building their homeland and country. Through each activity, students will develop life skills, cultural etiquette, and a compassionate and sharing spirit towards the community, thereby contributing to the training of students who are both morally upright and professionally competent.- What are the main volunteer activities that the student union has planned for this summer, sir?Following the directives and guidance of the higher-level Youth Union and the guidance and direction of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, the Standing Committee of the School's Youth Union organized and implemented the 2012 Summer Volunteer Campaign with the following models: volunteer support for exam season, promoting the culture and history of Thang Long Hanoi, volunteering in Quan Ba District, Ha Giang and Ba Vi District, Hanoi, and volunteering by various clubs. In addition, leveraging the strengths of the School, a team of campaign reporters will be deployed to all volunteer areas to provide timely news, articles, and images throughout the summer volunteering period. Students who are unable to participate in the volunteer models will be issued a summer activity permit by the School's Youth Union to participate in local summer activities. To ensure the most effective implementation and organization of volunteer campaigns, taking into account the requirements and specifics of each volunteer model, the Student Union will leverage and maximize the professional strengths of each unit in volunteering. Selected volunteers must possess enthusiasm, good health, experience, and strong character. Furthermore, to enhance opportunities for interaction, sharing, and learning among units, the Student Union also forms teams with the participation of students from various faculties. This approach, over the past few years, has shown initial effectiveness and has also strengthened the mobilization of additional resources for volunteer activities.- How has the management and safety of student volunteers been addressed?Safety is a crucial objective ensuring the success of the campaign. From the initial planning stages, the Steering Committee has paid close attention to all aspects: from selecting volunteers, sending them to training courses, providing necessary guidance materials, ensuring security in volunteer areas, to establishing team leaders and assigning permanent members to direct, monitor, and regularly provide encouragement and coordination to promptly resolve any issues arising in the volunteer areas. The Student Union and the Steering Committee of the 2012 Summer Volunteer Campaign have also developed a work plan and will maintain regular contact with the localities where volunteer activities take place to ensure safety and facilities so that student volunteers can work with peace of mind.- What are the new policies and reward systems for student volunteers participating in community activities this year? All groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the volunteer campaign according to the set goals and principles will be considered for awards at various levels. Not only teams operating remotely but also those volunteering within the school will have their contributions recognized, as long as they demonstrate the true spirit of volunteerism: no matter who you are or where you work, the most important thing is what you have contributed to the community and society.- As we're about to embark on a vibrant summer of volunteering, what feelings would you like to share with the student volunteers, in your capacity as Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities?Summer volunteering has long been an indispensable movement for young people. Every summer, youth union members and young people set out with the spirit of "wherever there is a need, the youth will be there; wherever there is difficulty, the youth will overcome it." Each person comes from a different region, with different personalities and expertise, but they all share one thing in common: the dedication of their youthful energy to volunteer activities. We hope that these young volunteers will show their full enthusiasm with the fire of their youth wherever they go. During my student years, I was also a volunteer, participating in the volunteer activities of the university's Youth Union with my friends. Now, as a youth union leader, continuing to organize social charity activities, sharing for the community, and witnessing the enthusiastic volunteering of these young volunteers, I feel like I'm reliving the emotions of my student days of pioneering spirit.- What experiences and lessons have your past journeys left you with? Each summer, every volunteer journey brings with it memories, experiences, and emotions that can never be fully described. Youth is the time when we strive for noble ideals, dedicating ourselves to our homeland and country. Life gives you the opportunity to do what you want, so why not do something useful right now, first for yourself and then to contribute to making this life more beautiful? Participate in practical activities that contribute to the development of the community and society to grow, become more confident, and find meaning in life. I have traveled, seen, heard, and done everything from the smallest tasks to the seemingly most difficult ones, in areas that were very close and also very far. But wherever we were, we always brought our youthful energy and enthusiasm to contribute our small part to the success of each summer volunteer trip. After each trip, we seem to grow, to find peace as we reflect on everything we do, everything we think, and feel the happiness of burning with passion and the fire of youth. These journeys you are undertaking will be unforgettable experiences in your student life and will help you achieve the most meaningful things in life.
