Before starting school, what did you find out about your school?
When I was filling out my university application, I didn't think much about which university I would attend, mainly focusing on the field of study. At that time, I listed several universities as my first choice. It wasn't until after the exam and I knew my scores that I started to think carefully about which university to attend. After asking my parents and friends for their opinions, everyone advised me to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. At that time, I knew that the university was a leading institution in the country for training in social sciences and humanities.
What did you imagine your school would be like before starting? How different is it from what you've experienced in the first few weeks? What impressed you most about your school?
Up until now, after the civic education classes and the first two weeks of classes, there are many things that have impressed me about my school. The teachers are very open and approachable, but also strict. The senior students are extremely enthusiastic and have organized many activities to help new students. Especially, the students at my school are very active and friendly, participating in many activities outside of studying, which is very different from my high school days.
Oh, and one more thing about my school that's different from what I imagined: there are more boys than I thought.laughOverall, I feel very fortunate to have chosen this school, and even more surprised to have the honor of being one of the top five students admitted to the school.

Valedictorian Dao Thi Minh Thu (Public Relations major)
Thu mentioned that when she initially applied to university, she was mainly interested in the field of study. What was the reason she chose Public Relations?
My reasons for choosing to study Public Relations are quite simple. My strengths lie in social sciences. Another reason is that I know Public Relations is a very promising field, providing me with many useful skills for the future. I'm not particularly good at communication, so I think studying Public Relations will help me improve this weakness.
I hope that my four years at this school will help me improve my weaknesses, develop my strengths, and create many memorable experiences.
That's for sure. You'll definitely have a wonderful student life at our school. From what I've observed, Thu likes K-pop, football, movies, etc. Can you share more about your hobbies?
This is an interesting question. Those are exactly my interests, and I think they're also the interests of many other girls. Actually, I don't follow Kpop or watch movies regularly anymore. Just a little secret: my favorite Kpop group is Bigbang – the group that was a part of my childhood.
I also love football and often watch the Vietnamese national team's matches in regional tournaments. Watching football is very exciting and suspenseful. It's a sport that demands teamwork and is full of surprises. Nothing can be said for sure until the match is over. This is similar to life. To succeed, you need to know how to connect with people. And there are always unexpected turns in life, gifts from life that only those who truly know how to dream and persevere will receive.
Besides football, I also enjoy watching many other sports at the sporting events where the Vietnamese team participates. Every time I see the athletes standing on the podium to receive medals and the Vietnamese flag being raised, I feel incredibly moved and proud.

You've always dreamed of studying in China, haven't you? Our school has many short-term student exchange opportunities with Chinese universities. How have you planned your studies at our school to make that dream a reality?
I think studying abroad in any country is a great opportunity for me. Each new environment will give me valuable lessons and experiences. If I have the chance to study abroad in China, I will seize it. I think I should improve my foreign language skills to have a chance to become an exchange student. Good foreign language skills will definitely be very helpful for my future.
I will participate in clubs and student union activities to create beautiful memories during my student life. Volunteer work and social activities will give me the opportunity to contribute a small part to society.
Having achieved such good results in the university entrance exam, those years of studying in high school must have been a crucial foundation. Thu, can you share any memories from your high school days with me?
Actually, my academic achievements haven't been particularly outstanding. I think my success is partly due to luck and partly due to a well-planned study schedule. My high school years left me with quite a few regrets. I've often wondered why I didn't try harder? Why wasn't I more active in extracurricular activities? I need to focus on this new path, on the next four years of university, so that I don't have any more regrets.
Thank you so much, Thu, for sharing such interesting things today. I wish you much luck and the ability to realize your wishes and plans in the near future.
