Talking about this issue, cultural expert, Mr. Nguyen Hung Vi, former lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) said that for thousands of years, the family has always been the place to nurture and transmit good cultural values ​​of Vietnamese people. In which, education is one of the basic and main functions of the family. In fact, the fact shows that families that care and focus on moral education, lifestyle, and personality tend to have children who live ethically and have a healthy lifestyle and vice versa. Therefore, the care and education of each family has the most influence on the formation and development of each person's personality, which are the standard values ​​to create people who live usefully for their own family, community and society. In each family, parents and grandparents must truly be role models for their children and grandchildren, to spread cultural education in the family as a cultural launching pad for society.

However, today, we are facing many pressing problems such as moral degradation, pragmatic lifestyle, apathy, contradictions, and conflicts from within the family to society.

Providing solutions to this problem, Mr. Vi said that it is necessary to promote the movement to build cultural families and civilized lifestyles. It is necessary to pay attention to building cultural families and cultural villages, including criteria of no domestic violence, no alcohol abuse, no gambling and drug abuse to recognize cultural families.

Each locality and each family must fight to limit and gradually eliminate pragmatic lifestyles, social evils, and domestic violence in social life, not allowing these evils to exist and persist in today's cultural life.

“It is necessary to strictly handle those who commit acts of domestic violence in accordance with regulations on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of domestic violence prevention and control. At the same time, it is necessary to build sustainable family institutions to prevent domestic violence, and at the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the leadership role of Party committees at all levels, local authorities, and coordinate with agencies, departments, and organizations in implementing domestic violence prevention and control and gender equality,” Mr. Vi emphasized.

Overcoming the disease of achievements and formalities in family building work

According to cultural expert Nguyen Hung Vi, there are currently many families who do not register to compete in cultural residential areas and cultural families. Not only that, because of achievements, in the review meeting, there is often a mentality of "showing off the good, covering up the bad" to foster the collective and individuals who are honored to meet cultural standards, being afraid to speak up, afraid to point out the shortcomings of neighbors, afraid of offending. Therefore, in a residential community, only evaluating and awarding titles to a number of truly outstanding and outstanding families to honor and reward will be more valuable than all households being recognized as "cultural families".

According to Dr. Khuat Thu Hong (Director of the Institute for Social Development Studies), the statistics on domestic violence published in recent times do not fully reflect the reality, because there are still many cases of silent suffering, because they are afraid of "showing their backs" or "embarrassing the man, shame on the man". Meanwhile, the community's awareness of this issue is still limited and many people still believe that a husband giving his wife a few "slaps" or parents beating their children are not the seeds of violence.

In particular, the low awareness of gender equality combined with economic factors and social evils such as alcoholism, gambling, drugs, prostitution, etc., make domestic violence still "survive". Therefore, to solve the root cause of domestic violence, it is necessary to further promote the propaganda and education of ethics and lifestyle in the family; Party members and adults must set a good example for all family members to follow. When acts of domestic violence are discovered, it is necessary to resolve them in conjunction with the law to strictly punish and deter, rather than placing too much emphasis on reconciliation.

In addition, the consideration and recognition of “Cultural Families” and exemplary families must be implemented in accordance with the instructions of the superior agency, must be based on public, democratic evaluation and be honored by the residential community. Encourage the residential community to promote the spirit of solidarity, give frank and sincere opinions, ensuring that the families that achieve the title of “Cultural Families” are truly exemplary.

It is necessary to understand that honoring cultural families is the core content of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas". Therefore, moral education and lifestyle are always important issues to build happy and progressive families, especially in an increasingly modern and developed society.
