Participating in the talk show were faculty members from the Student Affairs and Student Support Department, along with nearly 200 students from their first to fourth years across various academic disciplines at the university.
The event featured speaker Dr. Cao Xuan Lieu, Chairman of the Founding Council of the Institute for Applied Psychology, Education and Human Resource Training. With many years of experience teaching in psychology and human resource training, the speaker shared a wealth of information and personal experiences from his time as a recent graduate, facing numerous difficulties and challenges in finding a job that truly suited him and offered opportunities for advancement.
According to Dr. Cao Xuan Lieu, university students today receive solid professional training, but they still face many difficulties when entering the labor market: difficulty finding jobs; or finding jobs that do not match their abilities, strengths, and aspirations; lack of confidence during interviews and probationary periods, leading to failure to meet employers' expectations.
Therefore, even while still in school, students need thorough preparation, not only a solid foundation of professional knowledge but also self-understanding, self-positioning, identifying the "no's" (difficulties, challenges) in the labor market and the job they will do, and recognizing the obstacles they will encounter when starting a new job in a new environment. Only then can students avoid feeling bewildered and naive when they officially enter the labor market immediately after graduation.
VNU-USSH students interacted directly with the speaker.
Addressing the common question from many students, "What should students do to be ready to successfully enter the job market?", speaker Cao Xuan Lieu shared: Prepare a good "profile"; Be confident and willing to learn; Be prepared to face challenges; Don't rush the process; Accept failure and learn from mistakes; Thoroughly research the company and industry; Build and expand your network; Be diligent and responsible; Cultivate a mature and professional demeanor from the very beginning of the application process.
"
Gen Z students need to realize that now is not the time to "beg" for jobs, but rather to find the most suitable job (matching their expertise, abilities, interests, strengths, aspirations, and opportunities for personal growth and self-improvement) or to create jobs for themselves and others."—Dr. Cao Xuan Lieu emphasized.
Representatives from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities thanked the speaker, Dr. Cao Xuan Lieu, for sharing useful information with students about the characteristics of the labor market in the current context and for providing important tips on preparing a solid foundation before entering the labor market.
