The Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed gratitude for Joboko's and the speakers' support in the university's activities, which help equip students with the necessary skills to successfully integrate into the labor market.
Thorough and serious preparation: the deciding factor in getting the recruiter's "yes".
With years of experience in training, recruitment, and human resource management, and having held management positions in numerous companies and corporations, the three speakers – Ms. Tran Thi Huyen (Head of Training and Internal Communications Department, True Money Vietnam JSC), Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh (Deputy General Director of Bao Tin Manh Hai), and Mr. Tran Ngoc Son (Founder & CEO of The Trainee Club) – discussed and shared many personal experiences surrounding the topic of "Secrets to Conquering Recruiters".

According to experts, many graduates, despite having good professional knowledge, fail to pass the initial application stage for their desired jobs. Even if they make it to the interview stage, their performance may be unsuitable or lack distinctiveness, failing to convince recruiters. Have you ever wondered why you fail? Is it due to low self-esteem, nervousness, or fear; a lack of skills in handling difficult situations or interview questions; or a failure to make a good impression or understand the recruiter's expectations? Fortunately, there are many ways to overcome these challenges if you prepare yourself well: from strong professional knowledge to essential soft skills, and especially a serious and responsible attitude.
Good expertiseOf course, you must become an expert in your field, choose a suitable industry, one you love and are passionate about, and continuously improve your knowledge in that field.
In fact, all fields of study offer equal opportunities for good jobs and success, as long as you truly love what you do."—Mr. Nguyen Duc Anh emphasized.
What are essential soft skills?Where do you learn when you haven't yet gained practical work experience? Simply put, you learn at school, from your teachers and friends. Teamwork skills, public speaking, idea presentation, design, event organization, etc., can all be honed by actively participating in class activities, extracurricular activities, clubs, and more.
Serious and responsible attitudeThis is demonstrated by your commitment to the interview opportunity and thorough preparation: understanding the recruiting company, the requirements of the position you're applying for, neat and polite attire, a courteous and confident attitude, and some "tips" to make a good impression on the recruiter.
Thorough and serious preparation may not guarantee 100% success and selection, but lack of preparation guarantees 100% failure. This is a quote from a politician that I always remember."—Ms. Tran Thi Huyen shared.
Be a professional and confident candidate during the interview process.
Many students attending the sharing session expressed concerns about: what employers expect most from young, recent graduates with little practical experience; how to handle difficult situations and challenging questions from interviewers; whether to confidently showcase their strengths and talents or to be humble and hesitant to express themselves, etc.
The interactive session on stage, featuring three students as job applicants and three speakers as recruiters, was a very interesting part of the event. By participating in a real-life scenario, not only the three students but also nearly 400 students in the audience gained valuable experience and learned about their strengths and weaknesses.
So what questions do recruiters typically ask recent graduates with no work experience (juniors, freshers)?
The questions and scenarios will be incredibly diverse, but they will certainly revolve around the following key issues: 1. Please introduce yourself? 2. What are your career goals? 3. Why did you leave your previous company? 4. What are your strengths and skills? What are your weaknesses? 5. What do you know about our company? 6. Why are you applying for this position? 7. Why should we hire you instead of someone else? 8. What salary are you expecting? 9. Tell us about a time when you failed…
The secret is:Before entering the interview room, thoroughly research the company and the position you're applying for; maintain a calm and confident attitude; answer honestly about what you have to offer and what you aspire to (including proposing a high salary if you believe you deserve it, as this is also a way to demonstrate your value to the recruiter). And don't forget to smile brightly, bow, and thank the interviewers, even if your performance wasn't perfect.
And of course, don't forget, you only truly gain confidence and a sure chance of success when you have thoroughly honed your professional knowledge and skills throughout your studies at school; it can't happen overnight."– Mr. Tran Ngoc Son shared.
