Students of 09 basic science majors at VNU-USSH receive scholarships from partners of Vietnam National University, Hanoi

On the morning of March 12, 2024, Hanoi National University, DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Foundation, Korea, Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI) and KFHI Vietnam awarded 72 scholarships to students of basic sciences at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences under VNU. Each scholarship is worth 5 million VND, the total value of scholarships sponsored this time is 360 million VND.

Attending the scholarship awarding ceremony on behalf of Vietnam National University, Hanoi were Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu (Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of the VNU Development Fund); Dr. Tran Kien (Deputy Director of the Fund) and representatives of several functional departments of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Regarding the sponsors, there are Mr. Pham Quang Trinh (Representative of DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Fund, Korea), Mr. Ngo Hong Khoa (Deputy General Director, Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation).
On the side of the two beneficiaries, there were Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Party Secretary, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), MSc. Pham Thi Le Thuy (Deputy Head of the Department of Politics and Student Affairs, University of Natural Sciences) and representatives of a number of departments and units of the two schools.
Speaking at the Scholarship Award Ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Tu emphasized: VNU is ranked first in Vietnam in the world university rankings, and that achievement has great contributions from scientists, lecturers, and students in the field of basic sciences. This is the unique and different feature of VNU compared to other training units in the country. Therefore, in the development strategy, the Board of Directors of VNU always cares about, maintains, and develops basic sciences, with special attention to investing in teachers and learners. In the journey to realize that strategy, VNU has always received cooperation and companionship from domestic and foreign corporations and enterprises with very practical and effective investments and support. Today's scholarship award ceremony is a testament to that effective cooperation.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Tu emphasized the significance of the scholarship and support for students studying basic sciences at two member schools of VNU.
Representing the two units whose students received scholarships, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) expressed his deep gratitude to the Board of Directors of VNU and the Executive Board of the VNU Development Fund for always paying attention and favor to the member units that are training in basic science majors, namely the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences. In recent times, VNU has not only provided many supports from the state budget, but also strengthened cooperation with corporations, businesses, and organizations at home and abroad to have more valuable scholarships, internship, practice, and job opportunities for students.

Principal Hoang Anh Tuan shared more: in the trend of university education with many changes, the pressure of competition is very fierce, the enrollment and training face many difficulties, but the School is still determined to maintain and develop the training of basic sciences, affirming its position as a leading unit in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities nationwide, reaching the regional and world level. We would like to sincerely thank the sponsors who have always supported and given our students very meaningful gifts, recognizing, encouraging and motivating them to continue pursuing the major they love. The scholarship award ceremony also opens up opportunities for us to cooperate with new partners in training and research activities in the future.
Also at the scholarship awarding ceremony, the representative of the sponsoring units, Mr. Ngo Hong Khoa (Deputy General Director of VNI) highly appreciated the position and achievements of VNU in training, scientific research and social service. In particular, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the University of Natural Sciences are two units playing a pivotal role in VNU, with a leading position in the country in training basic sciences. He shared: “Supporting students is a consistent policy of the Board of Directors of the Corporation. In particular, awarding scholarships to university students is one of the activities that the Board of Directors of the Corporation pays special attention to. We are honored to contribute to the training of high-quality human resources for the country, especially human resources in basic sciences. Hopefully, this small gift will be a timely source of encouragement to help students have more motivation to strive to achieve better achievements in studying and scientific research”.

Nguyen Que Anh (4th year student majoring in Religious Studies) on behalf of 72 students receiving scholarships, emotionally expressed her deep gratitude to VNU and the sponsors for giving us these extremely valuable scholarships. This is not only a reward for our efforts in studying in the past time but also a great source of encouragement, helping us have more conditions to continue studying, training and improving ourselves.
On behalf of all the students who received the scholarship, I would like to express my gratitude to the School, the teachers of the Faculty/Department as well as the teachers of the functional departments who have supported, accompanied, and created all conditions to help us have good learning and training results to deserve this scholarship and many other study aids. We hope that this meaningful activity will continue to expand so that more students can continue to receive the joy and honor like us today.

Do Van Hung (2nd year History student) shared: "I am very happy and honored to receive this scholarship, because it will give me more motivation to continue pursuing the History major that I love. I also want to tell students that: USSH Media students always have the opportunity to receive many different types of scholarships, especially if you are a student of basic sciences, as long as you have good academic results and actively participate in union work, volunteer activities to serve the community".

In order to encourage and motivate students to be enthusiastic in studying, training and scientific research, over the past years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has cooperated with many organizations and individuals at home and abroad to build and effectively implement scholarship programs to support students. In the 2022-2023 school year, the University awarded 45 Talent Attraction scholarships for students in 9 basic majors (worth up to 50 million/1 year/1 student); 210 scholarships, with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND, from agencies, organizations and enterprises (Vingroup, SHB, Danko, KOVA, AEON, LG, Lotte, Dao Minh Quang Fund, Samsung scholarship, SJ Tech (Korea), Sumitomo, Yamaha, Mitshubishi (Japan), KAS Fund (Germany), ...)
In the 2023-2024 academic year, through the VNU Development Fund, students of the University are honored to receive additional scholarships from VNU's new partners, DB Kim Jun Ki Cultural Fund, Korea, Vietnam Aviation Insurance Corporation (VNI) and KFHI Vietnam Organization.
