In line with the trends of the times and the practical needs, the Faculty of History has quickly adapted to the trend of openness in all research fields. Various disciplines and specializations have been established within the History training program, such as Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese History, and World History, giving the Faculty of History a rich and diverse appearance, both theoretically and practically. This reality necessitates continued investment in developing new academic disciplines to meet the practical needs of society in the context of national development. Therefore, the establishment of the Urban History specialization since 2015 has been identified as one of the Faculty's core professional focuses in teaching and researching urban history issues in Vietnam and the world.

Culture encompasses all human creations and inventions, for the sake of survival and the purpose of life. As the superstructure, culture holds a very special position. Therefore, when speaking of culture, one must speak of its core values ​​and essence. Culture reflects the height and depth of development; it is both a driving force and a goal for the development of each community and the entire nation. At the National Cultural Conference (1946), President Ho Chi Minh affirmed the particularly important role of culture: "Culture illuminates the path for the nation to follow."

On June 24, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, organized a conference to present the preliminary results of the 2025 excavation of the Man Bac relic site at the cultural house of Bach Lien village, Yen Thanh commune (Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province).

Not coming from a "traditional" school to get into university, Bui Ha Anh - a former student of a continuing education school - quietly wrote an inspiring story of breakthrough. Refusing to let circumstances limit her, this young woman, who used to study late into the night, overcame skeptical glances to reach her dream of attending the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, becoming valedictorian and receiving a prestigious scholarship.

This was the central direction that was unanimously agreed upon at the Party Congress of the Faculty of History for the 2025-2027 term, held on the morning of March 11, 2025, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor and People's Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam, on the morning of February 25th, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH), in collaboration with the Vietnam Historical Science Association, organized an exhibition and scientific seminar to honor his immense contributions to the country's historiography.

In late December 2023, the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, organized a field trip for all first-year students to Quoc Oai District (Hanoi) and Quang Ninh Province, comprising three groups of approximately 30 students each. This is an annual activity, part of the curriculum for history students, and is given great attention by the University's Board of Directors. On December 26, 2023, following the direction of the Board of Directors, representatives from various departments and the Faculty of History visited and encouraged the history students participating in the field trip.

Within the framework of the Vietnammica project, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) had the honor of welcoming Professor Marc Bui and Associate Professor Pascal Bourdeaux from the French Institute for Advanced Studies (EPHE) for a working visit and a series of presentations on the theme "Vietnamese History and Digital Humanities: Reconsidering and Utilizing Historical Sources".
