University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi

Responding to an invitation from the Faculty of Humanities, Airlangga University, a group of students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU-Hanoi) specializing in World History, Cultural Studies (Faculty of History), and Southeast Asian Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) undertook an internship and academic exchange in Indonesia from November 25th to December 2nd, 2025. This activity is part of the university's strategy to strengthen international cooperation and expand practical experience for students in the context of globalized education.

January 28, 1941, is a special milestone in the nation's history, when Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh returned to his homeland after three decades of revolutionary activity abroad, choosing Pac Bo (Cao Bang) as his first base to directly lead the revolutionary movement. Here, he presided over the 8th Central Committee Conference (May 1941), establishing the strategic line that prioritized national liberation and founded the Viet Minh Front – historical decisions that contributed decisively to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the "Vietnam-Korea Youth Cultural Exchange Program on Zen Meditation and the East Asian Youth Cultural Exchange Day on Zen Meditation 2025," students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (USSH) participated in many meaningful activities with Korean students.

This was the content discussed and agreed upon at the working session between representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and the leaders of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee on the afternoon of October 30, 2025.

The annual academic program "Following the Course of History" in 2025, hosted by the Student Union of the Faculty of History, concluded with profound impressions, contributing to spreading a passion for history, inspiring academic spirit, and fostering awareness of preserving national cultural values ​​among students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi.

The research results were published by scientists on August 31, 2025, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, during the launch ceremony of the book series "Research on National Sovereignty and Territory in the Direction of a Holistic and Comprehensive Approach to Vietnamese History," attracting the attention of agencies, organizations, and scientists.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2025), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, is pleased to announce the organization of an International Scientific Conference with the theme: "From the August Revolution to the New Era of Development: The Nation's Foundation, Potential, Position, and International Prestige".

This was the content presented at the scientific seminar themed "Dong Son Culture in Cao Bang: From New Archaeological Discoveries - Unleashing Historical Values, Fostering a Journey of Happiness for Humanity," organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Cao Bang Province, on the morning of August 11, 2025, in Cao Bang.

The Department of Cultural Studies was officially opened at the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 2020, building upon the foundation of the Vietnamese Cultural History specialization within the History department since 2000 and with the faculty of the Department of Cultural Studies (originally named the Department of Vietnamese Cultural History) – a unit established in 1998, headed by Professor Tran Quoc Vuong.

Vietnamese history is a broad but deeply rooted academic field, studying the political, economic, cultural, social, and territorial development of Vietnam—from its prehistoric origins and ancient kingdoms, through monarchical dynasties, colonial challenges, wars for independence, and the building of a modern nation.

In line with the trends of the times and the practical needs, the Faculty of History has quickly adapted to the trend of openness in all research fields. Various disciplines and specializations have been established within the History training program, such as Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese History, and World History, giving the Faculty of History a rich and diverse appearance, both theoretically and practically. This reality necessitates continued investment in developing new academic disciplines to meet the practical needs of society in the context of national development. Therefore, the establishment of the Urban History specialization since 2015 has been identified as one of the Faculty's core professional focuses in teaching and researching urban history issues in Vietnam and the world.

Culture encompasses all human creations and inventions, for the sake of survival and the purpose of life. As the superstructure, culture holds a very special position. Therefore, when speaking of culture, one must speak of its core values ​​and essence. Culture reflects the height and depth of development; it is both a driving force and a goal for the development of each community and the entire nation. At the National Cultural Conference (1946), President Ho Chi Minh affirmed the particularly important role of culture: "Culture illuminates the path for the nation to follow."

On June 24, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province, organized a conference to present the preliminary results of the 2025 excavation of the Man Bac relic site at the cultural house of Bach Lien village, Yen Thanh commune (Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province).
