University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU

The research results were announced by scientists on August 31, 2025 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi at the launching ceremony of the book series "Research on National and Territorial Sovereignty in the direction of a comprehensive and holistic approach to Vietnamese History", attracting the attention of agencies, organizations and scientists.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1945-2025), the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Ho Chi Minh City respectfully announce the organization of an International Scientific Conference with the theme: "From the August Revolution to the new era of development: The country's foundation, potential, position and international prestige".

This is the content presented at the Scientific Seminar with the theme "Dong Son Culture in Cao Bang from new archaeological discoveries - Unleashing historical values, fostering a journey of happiness for humanity" organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in coordination with the People's Committee of Cao Bang province on the morning of August 11, 2025 in Cao Bang.

The Department of Cultural Studies was officially opened at the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU since 2020, on the basis of the major of Vietnamese Cultural History under the Department of History since 2000 and with the teaching staff of the Department of Cultural Studies (originally named Department of Vietnamese Cultural History) - a unit established in 1998, with Professor Tran Quoc Vuong as Head.

Vietnamese history is a broad but deeply grounded academic field that studies the political, economic, cultural, social and territorial development of Vietnam - from its prehistoric origins and ancient kingdoms, through its monarchies, colonial challenges, wars of independence and modern nation-building.

Along with the development trend of the times and the practical needs, the Faculty of History has kept pace very quickly with the open trend in all fields of research. In turn, the majors and specialties were formed within the History training program such as Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese History, World History, giving the Faculty of History a rich appearance, both in theory and practice. That reality requires the Faculty of History to continue investing in building new majors to meet the practical social needs in the context of national development. Therefore, the birth of the Urban History major since 2015 has been identified as one of the Faculty's professional focuses in the task of teaching and researching Urban History issues in Vietnam and the world.

Culture is the whole of human creations and inventions, for survival, the purpose of life. Culture is the superstructure so it holds a very special position. Therefore, when talking about culture, we must talk about core values, the quintessence. Culture shows the height and depth of development level, culture is both the driving force and the development goal of each community, of the whole country. In the National Cultural Conference (1946), President Ho Chi Minh affirmed the particularly important role of culture: "Culture lights the way for the nation to go".

On June 24, 2025, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports of Ninh Binh province organized a conference to report on the preliminary results of the excavation of Man Bac relics in 2025 at the cultural house of Bach Lien village, Yen Thanh commune (Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province).

Not coming from a “traditional” school to pass the university entrance exam, Bui Ha Anh - a former student of a continuing education school, has quietly written an inspirational story of breakthrough. Not letting circumstances determine the limit, the young girl studied all night, overcame skeptical looks to reach the dream of "University of Social Sciences and Humanities", became valedictorian, and received a prestigious scholarship.

That is the core direction that was highly agreed upon at the Congress of the History Faculty Party Cell for the 2025 - 2027 term held on the morning of March 11, 2025 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor, People's Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam, on the morning of February 25, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) in collaboration with the Vietnam Historical Science Association organized an Exhibition and Scientific Seminar to honor his great contributions to the country's history.

At the end of December 2023, the Faculty of History, University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized for all first-year students to do an Archaeological internship in Quoc Oai district (Hanoi) and Quang Ninh province, including 3 groups, each group of about 30 students. This is an annual activity, part of the training program for students majoring in History and is of great interest to the School's Board of Directors. On December 26, 2023, following the direction of the Board of Directors, representatives of the leaders of functional departments and the Faculty of History visited and encouraged students of the Faculty of History to participate in the internship.
