The ceremony announcing the establishment of the Faculty of Political Science was solemnly held on the morning of September 27th. Attendees included Comrade Dinh The Huynh - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Professor Nguyen Duc Binh - former Member of the Politburo; Comrade Nguyen Khanh - former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, former Deputy Prime Minister; Comrade Ngo Thi Doan Thanh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Hanoi City People's Council… along with representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and various functional units and departments within the university…In July 2011, the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed a decision to establish the Faculty of Political Science based on the Department of Political Science. The Faculty of Political Science's leadership board consists of: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council) as Dean, and the Vice-Deans are: Dr. Luu Minh Van, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, and MSc. Pham Quoc Thanh. At the ceremony, on behalf of the Faculty of Political Science's leadership board, Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu expressed gratitude to the generations who contributed to building the Faculty. Reporting on the Faculty's development, Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu stated: The determination to establish a unit specializing in research and training in Political Science was established in the late 1980s. After a period of preparation, the Department of Political Science was established in 1995; In 2005, the Department was assigned the task of training master's and doctoral students in two specialties: Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies; in 2008, the Department was further assigned the task of training bachelor's students in Political Science. To date, the Faculty of Political Science has trained 98 postgraduate students, 9 doctoral candidates (including 1 foreign doctoral candidate), and over 200 undergraduate students. In addition, the Faculty has successfully organized 6 training courses for lecturers on Ho Chi Minh Thought, and taught two subjects, Ho Chi Minh Thought and General Political Science, to units within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi...

Speaking at the ceremony congratulating the Faculty of Political Science, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Dinh The Huynh, highly appreciated and expressed confidence that the Political Science training program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would develop steadily, reflecting the identity, character, and unique features of Vietnamese politics. Comrade Dinh The Huynh emphasized: Political science is a relatively young science in our country, but Vietnamese political science has a special advantage because it is formed on the glorious and heroic tradition of our people… Teaching, studying, and researching political science is both a responsibility and a great honor.

On behalf of the University's leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector) congratulated the Faculty of Political Science and also expressed gratitude to the senior generations. The Rector affirmed that in the coming period, to fulfill its glorious mission of training high-quality human resources and conducting research, the Faculty of Political Science needs to focus on implementing and effectively carrying out the following key tasks: + Developing a development strategy for the unit for the period 2011-2020 and a vision for 2030, in line with the requirements and development orientation of the Political Science sector, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the national education system. + It is necessary to prioritize the training and development of permanent staff to meet standards in both academic degrees (doctorate) and political theory, with firm ideological foundations and exemplary moral conduct… + Continue to build and develop cooperative relationships with organizations and individuals, scientists, universities, research institutes… + Proactively and actively propose and implement scientific research topics and projects to practically serve the goal of improving the quality of training and development of lecturers, while contributing to the school's role in advising on policies for Party and State agencies and participating in solving socio-economic development tasks. + Focus on political and ideological education and professional ethics education for faculty and students of the department…

The Faculty of Political Science was established on the basis of the Department of Political Science to meet the societal need for in-depth training in Political Science – individuals capable of researching and practicing Political Science, and competent to work in fields requiring an understanding of Political Science.
