On September 22, 2011, a delegation from the Office of Project 165 (Central Organizing Committee), led by Comrade Nguyen Van Quynh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, and Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Project 165, held a working session with the leaders of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to inspect and evaluate the joint Master's program in Science and Technology Management between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Lund University, Sweden. On behalf of the University's leadership, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh reported on the results of the Master's Program in Science and Technology Management, part of Project 165 assigned to the University by the Central Organizing Committee. The first cohort of the program recruited 38 students. After nearly 15 months of implementation, 36 out of 38 students have essentially completed the training program. Since the beginning of September 2011, these 36 students have begun a one-month internship program at Lund University. This is the first program under the project to train and develop leadership and management personnel abroad using state budget funds (referred to as Project 165), assigned to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. To implement the program, the University established an executive board chaired by the Rector, a specialized board, and a dedicated program coordinator. The program has been implemented on schedule and effectively, and according to plan, the first 36 students will defend their theses and take the IELTS exam in October. At the meeting, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh made several recommendations to the Office of Project 165 and the Central Organizing Committee to further improve the effectiveness and quality of subsequent training courses, such as: improving the foreign language proficiency of students, enhancing the ethical conduct of training staff, and strengthening coordination between units. The Rector also proposed several training programs that are strengths of the University, which could be implemented within the framework of Project 165, such as the Master's program in Journalism and Communication Management and Cultural Heritage and Tourism Management. Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh highly appreciated the efforts of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in participating in the program seriously and effectively. He affirmed that the organizational and management methods of this first course would contribute important practical experience in the implementation of subsequent training courses under the Project. He also acknowledged the School's recommendations regarding the implementation of other training courses on Journalism and Media Management, and Cultural Heritage and Tourism Management. In the coming period, phase 2 of the project will continue to be implemented, focusing on a number of reputable and high-quality training institutions.
