Summary of Course 6: Screenwriting - Film Theory and Criticism

The closing ceremony and certificate awarding for the 6th course in screenwriting and film criticism under the Film Project, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, took place on October 28th.The 6th course of the film screenwriting and film criticism training project officially commenced in November 2009 with 40 students selected from various universities and training institutions nationwide. After one year of study, 26 students completed their graduation theses and received certificates from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Vice Rector of the University, praised and acknowledged the achievements of the film project in its training courses. The Vice Rector thanked the Ford Foundation for funding the film project over the past six courses and affirmed that the University will continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the development of the screenwriting, film theory, and criticism training program in the future. According to Professor Tran Hinh, the head of the Film Project, the Film Project, funded by the Ford Foundation, began in 2005 and offers a free ten-month course each year to develop talents in screenwriting, film and television criticism in Vietnam. Course 6 was the final course of the Film Project, funded by the Ford Foundation, and it also had the largest number of graduates and produced the most film news articles: 21. Course 6 was also fully equipped with specialized learning materials and modern equipment for study and research. Many episodes scripted by project participants have been broadcast on television and participated in film festivals.
