Eligibility requirements for postgraduate transfer students

Conditions for admission to postgraduate training programs at Hanoi National University for bachelor's degree graduates in their graduation year, as quoted fromSome adjustments and additions to the eligibility criteria for postgraduate transfer students at Hanoi National University.Issued under Decision No. 237/KHCN, dated July 3, 2006, by the Director of Hanoi National University.

I. Transferring students to master's programs in their graduation year.

1.Full-time students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi are eligible for transfer to a master's program in their graduation year if they meet the following conditions:

- The overall average grade for all subjects throughout the course must be 7.0 or higher; the overall average grade for the Foreign Language subject (Foreign Language 2 for Foreign Language majors) must be 7.0 or higher, or meet the Foreign Language requirement of the postgraduate entrance examination at VNU.

- The overall average score of all subjects in the specialized knowledge block of the major (including the basic knowledge block of the major, the specialized knowledge block, the professional knowledge block, thesis/graduation exam) and bonus points for scientific research achievements (student scientific research awards, scientific articles) must be 8.0 or higher; no subjects in the specialized knowledge block of the major must be retaken;

- The undergraduate degree must be in a field that matches the master's degree program.

- Having won a student research award at the university, faculty, or higher level, or having published a full article in a scientific journal, conference proceedings (with peer review) at the institutional or national level, or having a graduation thesis with a score of 9.5 or higher.

- Having the desire and being accepted by the postgraduate training unit of VNU Hanoi.

2.Full-time students from universities outside of Vietnam National University, Hanoi are eligible for transfer to a master's program in their graduation year if they meet the following conditions:

- The overall average grade for all subjects throughout the course must be 8.0 or higher; the overall average grade for the foreign language subject (Foreign Language 2 for foreign language majors) must be 8.0 or higher, or meet the foreign language requirements of the postgraduate entrance examination at Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

- The overall average score of all subjects in the specialized knowledge block of the major (including the basic knowledge block of the major, the specialized knowledge block, the professional knowledge block, thesis/graduation exam) and bonus points for scientific research achievements (student scientific research awards, scientific articles) must be 9.0 or higher; no subject in the specialized knowledge block of the major must be retaken;

- The undergraduate degree must be in a field that matches the master's degree program.

- Having won a student research award at the university, faculty, or higher level, or having published a full article in a scientific journal, conference proceedings (with peer review) at the institutional or national level, or having a graduation thesis that received a perfect score of 10.

- Having the desire and being accepted by the postgraduate training unit of VNU Hanoi;

3.Full-time students from universities outside of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) that have a reputable training quality in their field of study (the specific field and institution will be decided by the Director of VNU) may be considered for transfer to a master's program in their graduation year under the same conditions as full-time VNU students.

II. Transferring PhD students in their graduation year

1.Full-time students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi are eligible for transfer to doctoral programs in their graduation year if they meet the following conditions:

- The overall average grade for all subjects throughout the course must be 8.0 or higher; the overall average grade for the Foreign Language subject (Foreign Language 2 for Foreign Language majors) must be 8.0 or higher, or meet the Foreign Language requirement of the postgraduate entrance examination at VNU.

- The overall average score of all subjects in the specialized knowledge block of the major (including the basic knowledge block of the major, the specialized knowledge block, the professional knowledge block, thesis/graduation exam) and bonus points for scientific research achievements (student scientific research awards, scientific articles) must be 9.0 or higher; no subject in the specialized knowledge block of the major must be retaken;

- The undergraduate degree must be in the same field as the doctoral program.

- Having won a student research award at the university, faculty, or higher level, or having published a full article in a scientific journal, conference proceedings (with peer review) at the institutional or national level, or having a graduation thesis that received a perfect score of 10.

- Having the desire and being accepted by the postgraduate training unit of VNU Hanoi;

2.Full-time students from universities outside of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) that have a reputable training quality in their field/specialization (the specific field/specialization and training institution will be decided by the Director of VNU) may be considered for doctoral transfer in their graduation year under the same conditions as full-time VNU students.
