International scientific conference: “Sustainable tourism development: Lessons learned for Southeast Asian countries”

On December 3rd & 4th, 2019, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with Bournemouth University (UK), with funding from the TOURIST Project and the European Commission through the Eramus+ Program, organized the Workshop.“Sustainable tourism development: Lessons learned for South East Asian countries”(Vietnamese name is “Sustainable Tourism Development: Lessons for Southeast Asian Countries”).

The workshop aims to create a forum for scholars and tourism researchers at home and abroad to exchange, acquire experiences, share knowledge, research results and methods related to tourism activities in the Southeast Asian region in particular and countries around the world in general, reposition the position of regional tourism, and re-evaluate the role of Vietnamese tourism in the region in the context of integration.

The conference was attended by about 60 scholars from many different countries (including the UK, Austria, Spain, Finland, Italy, the US, Japan, Belgium, Korea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc.) with 03 world-class speakers in the field of tourism academia. On the Vietnamese side, the conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representatives of the General Department of Tourism, representatives of the Institute for Tourism Development Research, representatives of the Board of Directors of the National University, representatives of tourism training schools in Vietnam, and domestic tourism researchers.
