[Invitation to write articles] Workshop "Social security and social protection for vulnerable groups in the lower Mekong region"

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi and University College Cork (Ireland) will co-organize an international scientific conference with the theme: "Food security and social protection for vulnerable groups in the lower Mekong Region".

The workshop is a forum to discuss opportunities, challenges and solutions in developing and implementing national and regional policies on food and nutrition security, transformation in people's livelihoods, and the role of social protection in ensuring food security.

The Organizing Committee of the Conference respectfully invites interested scholars and researchers to write papers on one of the following issues:

  • National and regional status and challenges of food and nutrition security in the context of climate change and natural resource scarcity (water-energy nexus and food security; political factors affecting food and nutrition security in the lower Mekong region);
  • Proposals for livelihood transformation for people, especially vulnerable groups (in rural and urban areas) facing the challenges of food security and nutrition.
  • The role of social protection in ensuring food security
  • ASEAN cooperation to enhance social protection and development of vulnerable groups, especially women and children, in the lower Mekong region in food security and nutrition.

The workshop is scheduled to be held onFebruary 26, 2020in Hanoi.

The organizing committee will accept abstracts of papers.before January 20, 2020.Notification of acceptance will be sent on January 22, 2020.
