The workshop, held on August 16, 2008, was organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and attended by numerous scientists and education experts from universities and research institutes in Vietnam and South Korea. The workshop focused on three main topics: educational quality assessment: theory and methodology; curriculum accreditation; and forms of assessment and evaluation of learning outcomes.
In the first section, the reports focused on issues such as: quality culture, accreditation, university evaluation, lecturer evaluation, etc. Some reports addressed new issues in Vietnam such as university rankings and benchmarking.
In the second section, the reports affirmed that program accreditation is a positive measure to ensure the quality of education in universities. Although this is a relatively new issue in Vietnam, the reports attempted to clarify the reasons for implementing program accreditation; provide information on the situation of program accreditation in Vietnam and some countries around the world; develop accreditation standards; and propose a program accreditation model...
In addition to the two topics above, the issue of testing and evaluating learning outcomes was also a focus of discussion among the delegates. This is considered a crucial step that helps lecturers organize teaching more effectively and allows students to receive feedback to adjust their study plans. Reports on this topic discussed the function of assessment; establishing the relationship between testing, evaluation, and teaching; and various forms of testing and evaluating learning outcomes.
