The school-wide briefing session, chaired by the Rector, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, took place on December 1, 2010.
The school-wide briefing session, chaired by the Rector, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, took place on December 1, 2010.The Rector's overall assessment of the work in November indicated that all units had completed their main tasks according to plan. The Rector also pointed out several unfinished tasks or those that had been started but were behind schedule, namely: The conference on the use of the training management software had not yet been organized; the collection of tuition fees for part-time programs in localities, postgraduate tuition fees in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City, and the payment of strategic project funds were behind schedule. Regarding key tasks for December 2010, the Rector particularly emphasized the following: Party work, organization, propaganda, and mass organizations: Conducting the evaluation of the quality of Party branches and Party members in 2010; Organizing a Party awareness training course for outstanding union members. Simultaneously, summarizing the implementation of the Six Programs aimed at standardizing and modernizing the school's activities during the 2003-2010 period. Other specific tasks include: Completing the adjustment of the internal expenditure regulations; completing the classification of employees receiving additional income in 2010; and implementing the first round of awards in 2011. Regarding training, student affairs, quality assurance, and inspection: Promptly issuing several specific guidelines and regulations: Guidelines for implementing the University Training Regulations at VNU, Provisional Regulations on the management of undergraduate training for foreign students, and Provisional Regulations on inviting foreign lecturers. Simultaneously, organizing course registration for the second semester; organizing the first semester exams; organizing the School-level Conference to summarize the four years of credit-based training; and considering regular student subsidies. Scientific research and international cooperation: This month, the University will organize international conferences: Preserving and promoting national cultural identity for sustainable development, Vietnamese studies: Interdisciplinary approach in the context of globalization, and coordinating the organization of a conference commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian writer Lev Tolstoy. In addition, many other activities will take place: Summary of postgraduate admissions in 2010 and postgraduate training for the QH-2007-X cohort; Graduation review and request for the Vietnam National University, Hanoi to issue master's degree certificates for postgraduate students of the QH-2007-X cohort; Announcement of postgraduate admissions for the first round of 2011; Organizing a seminar with several universities in the region on building an international training framework for Southeast Asian studies. Administrative, management and financial work: Accelerating the completion of the renovation project of building H and initial equipment for the Center for Journalism and Communication; Recovering outstanding advances; Preparing the Q4 financial report. The Rector specifically noted the following tasks that units need to immediately carry out: - The Political and Student Affairs Department needs to develop a strategy to build an alumni network, establish a fund to support students and the University's activities. - The Training Department and the Postgraduate Training Department should evaluate the implementation of strategic tasks at the university and develop a plan for the development of several new majors. - The Personnel Department should plan to organize a conference for young staff; the Postgraduate Training Department should organize a conference for postgraduate students and doctoral candidates. - The Administration Department should conduct a survey and plan to upgrade the network system and internet speed. - Heads of units and secretaries of Party branches: Organize the evaluation of the Six Programs towards standardizing and modernizing the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the period 2003-2010 and submit reports to the university on time. At the same time, heads of units should fully attend and assign staff to participate in the school's general activities and events; pay more attention to students' scientific research; complete the evaluation of Party branches and Party members before January 15, 2011; and complete the dossiers for the first round of awards in 2011 before January 15, 2011.
