Forty young lecturers from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities participated in a course on "Course Design and Teaching Methods" taught by experts from the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) from February 27 to March 2, 2011.This is the first course in a three-course program. Participating in the course, the young lecturers of the school were introduced to very innovative teaching methods and lesson design. Physical games, developmental games, stories… were flexibly and logically incorporated into the lessons in each session. In each session, the young lecturers were divided into small groups to solve problems presented by experts. “Participating in the course, we not only learned many new teaching methods and classroom organization techniques, but also had to demonstrate teamwork and presentation skills in each lesson. Indeed, the experts created a very open and refreshing atmosphere for us,” shared Ms. Nguyen Anh Thu (Faculty of Management Science).

Lecturer Phan Van Kien (Faculty of Journalism and Communication) said: “I have applied some of the methods the experts shared in my lectures over the past year. However, due to a lack of knowledge and experience, I often felt confused when designing the lessons. Through this course, I learned many more ways to implement my lectures.” “For the past few years, I’ve only taught, but now I’m a student in a class, which I find very interesting. The course has changed many of my perceptions about teaching,” added Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang (Faculty of Political Science). The course also provided an opportunity for young lecturers in the university to network, exchange experiences, and better understand each other.
