On the morning of February 7, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference of key officials to solicit confidence votes for the Vice Rector position for the 2011-2014 term. Based on the standards for leadership and management personnel and their capabilities, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors nominated two candidates: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Head of the Faculty of International Studies) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies).This is one of the crucial steps in the process of nominating and appointing leadership and management personnel. Previously, on January 5, 2012, the Prime Minister appointed Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to the position of Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. This nomination and appointment process not only elected a replacement but also added a new Vice Rector, bringing the total number of Vice Rectors to four. This is a necessary addition given the expansion of training scale, especially postgraduate training, at the University. Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, along with Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu, Vice Rector, and Associate Professor Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Chairman of the University's Trade Union, chaired the meeting. Associate Professor Dr. Le Kim Long, Head of the Personnel and Organization Department of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, also attended and witnessed the confidence vote process.

On behalf of the Standing Committee - Board of Directors, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh informed the conference of some basic information about the work history and personal background of Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh and Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa, along with comments from the university leadership. At the conference, the two candidates also briefly presented their work programs if appointed. At the end of the conference, the delegates cast votes of confidence for the additional vice-rectors. The voting results will serve as the basis for the next steps in the nomination and appointment process.
