On January 4, 2012, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 22/QD-TTg appointing Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son as Vice Director of Hanoi National University. From January 9, 2012, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son transferred to work at Hanoi National University. While awaiting the completion and restructuring of the Board of Directors, the Rector of the University assigned specific tasks within the Board of Directors as follows:

- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector: Overall responsibility; responsible for Organization and Personnel, External Relations and International Training Cooperation, and Scientific Research Management.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu – Standing Vice Rector: Responsible for Administration – Facilities, Planning - Finance, and Postgraduate Training.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Vice Rector: Responsible for undergraduate training, politics and student affairs, inspection, and quality assurance.
