Contributing significantly to the historical and cultural values of Buddhism in the Kinh Bac region, alongside the major Buddhist cultural centers already mentioned, Bach Mon Pagoda deserves mention. Originally known as Linh Cam Temple, Bach Mon is an ancient temple built during the Ly Dynasty, becoming a cultural heritage site with a rich history of religious beliefs.
Looking back at the history of formation and development, and the architectural and cultural value of Bach Mon Pagoda in the historical flow of Vietnamese Buddhism in general and Kinh Bac in particular, the Department of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, in collaboration with the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province, and the Tran Nhan Tong Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is organizing a Scientific Conference: Architecture and Culture of Bach Mon Pagoda in the Historical Flow of Buddhism in Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac.
The conference aims to clarify the architectural, cultural, and historical values of Buddhism in Kinh Bac, as well as the significant contributions of Bach Mon Pagoda to Vietnamese Buddhism in general and Kinh Bac in particular. Through this, it honors the noble values and cherishes the great achievements that our ancestors, as well as previous generations of patriarchs and Buddhist followers, have diligently contributed. The conference also serves as a practical and beneficial academic forum for scholars studying Buddhism, architecture, culture, and history, as well as Buddhist followers and lay practitioners, to better understand the national history and the values that Bach Mon Pagoda has left behind. The success of the conference will contribute to affirming and promoting the architectural, cultural, artistic, and Buddhist architectural values that have been built and nurtured; thereby establishing a strong and firm position for Vietnamese Buddhism.
