As of today, Vietnam has gone 22 consecutive days without detecting any community-transmitted Covid-19 cases, and the control and prevention of the Covid-19 epidemic is basically under control. This is an important foundation for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to continue both implementing Covid-19 prevention and control measures and ensuring the fulfillment of the 2020-2021 academic year's tasks in the new context. Accordingly, the University requests that all units inform lecturers and students of the following key tasks:
1. Schedule and teaching/learning methods
For students from the QH-2019 cohort and earlier, the first semester of the 2020-2021 academic year will be conducted in person in classrooms starting from October 5, 2020. For the QH-2020-X cohort, classes will begin on October 12, 2020.
2. Training through a blended learning approach.
The school encourages faculty members to register for teaching using a hybrid approach, combining in-person classroom instruction with the use of the course website to support teaching and improve teaching effectiveness.
2.1 General principles:The use of subject-specific website software is intended to support teaching and learning, but it does not replace in-person classroom lessons.
2.2 Register:The school requires departments to organize for lecturers to register for courses to be taught using the above-mentioned blended learning method.Note: Each instructor may register for no more than 3 courses taught using a blended learning approach. Before October 3rd, 2020, units must submit the list of staff registering to use the course website to the University (via the Training Department). The registration form will be sent to units via email.
2.3 Request:The teaching content delivered on the course website must meet the following requirements:
- Course information:The course information should be clearly presented, at a minimum clarifying the specific objectives of the course, the regulations and encouragement given by the instructor to students during the learning process, the regulations regarding examinations and assessments, as well as the formats of assignments or tests, and instructions to help students study the course effectively.
- Course content:Organize the course content into weekly themes, closely adhering to the course objectives and teaching-learning progress.(7 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks).Instructors are responsible for the content published on the course website and must publicly disclose the regulations regarding the assignments students must complete during class.
- Notification:Providing students with guidance on learning tasks throughout the semester and on a weekly basis aims to promote student initiative in learning and serves as a basis for evaluating students' learning attitudes and attendance levels.
- Learning materials:Provide complete information about the course materials and lecture files. Instructors are encouraged to provide students with readily available digital learning materials (files).
- Exercises/Forums:Organize at least 6 discussion topics or graded assignments throughout the semester. Implement professional measures to ensure full student participation in discussions and assignments. Specifically, instructors teaching the Applied Informatics course must organize discussions, assign assignments, and provide assessments for students for a minimum of 10 weeks.
2.4Policies regarding faculty:
- Lecturers using the course website software will be compensated for overtime hours based on the coefficient stipulated in the current internal expenditure regulations.
- Lecturers receive financial support for content development, discussion organization, and assessment through contracts for innovative teaching methods, with a budget of 1,000,000 VND per course module.(regardless of the duration of the course)In cases where there is more than one class for the same course, the support level for each class from the second class onwards will be 25% of the support level for the first class.
3. Other tasks
- Continue to remind lecturers, trainees, and students to strictly implement Directive 19/CT-TTg, dated April 24, 2020, of the Prime Minister on continuing to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic in the new context.
- Regularly monitor, understand, and update information on the disease situation related to staff, lecturers, and students in your unit; promptly report any issues arising in the unit to the Board of Directors and the School's Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control.
To ensure the progress and quality of training, the School requests that all units seriously implement the above-mentioned tasks.
