The old year 2010 is about to pass and we are preparing to enter the new year 2011. The School's Website reviews the outstanding events of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2010.
1. 65 years of tradition, University of Social Sciences and Humanities receives Ho Chi Minh Medal
On November 17, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a ceremony to celebrate its 65th anniversary and receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal - a noble award from the State to recognize and commend the achievements the University has made during the renovation period.

This is the honor and pride of generations of staff, students and trainees of the school, demonstrating the worthy continuation of 65 years of tradition of construction and development. The school is always at the forefront of education and training of high-quality human resources to serve the cause of national construction and development.
2. 10 teachers received the title of People's Teacher, Meritorious Teacher and 11 lecturers were awarded the title of Professor, Associate Professor
On November 9, 2010, President Nguyen Minh Triet signed a decision to confer the title of “Excellent Teacher” and “People’s Teacher” to 1,094 teachers nationwide who have made contributions to the nation’s education. In this 11th conferment, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 4 teachers conferred the title of People’s Teacher and 6 teachers conferred the title of Meritorious Teacher.

In 2010, the School also had 11 more lecturers awarded the title of Professor and Associate Professor. Among them, Professor Nguyen Van Hiep (Faculty of Linguistics) was one of the two youngest professors to be awarded the title at the age of 46.
3. The 26th Party Congress of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, term 2010 - 2015
With the slogan of action “Effective innovation and comprehensive development”, the 26th Party Congress for the 2010-2015 term issued many important resolutions, including striving to have the University ranked in the top 400 universities in Asia by 2015.

With the high trust of all delegates, comrade Nguyen Van Khanh continues to hold the position of Party Committee Secretary; comrade Nguyen Kim Son holds the position of Deputy Party Committee Secretary; comrade Dang Xuan Khang holds the position of Chairman of the Party Committee's Inspection Committee.
4. Summary of 4 years of credit-based training
The conference summarizing 4 years of credit-based training at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities was held on December 4. The conference was an opportunity for the University to evaluate the successes and limitations in the 4 years of credit-based training from 2006 to 2010, thereby drawing experiences to continue innovating credit-based training in the following years. On behalf of the leaders of VNU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Trong Quat - Vice President of VNU, praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the University in the 4 years of converting to credit-based training. The Vice President emphasized: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is one of the pioneers in implementing credit-based training. Despite the limited facilities, the University has built a solid foundation for training, drawing valuable lessons for the University in particular and VNU in general.

On this occasion, the School also organized a ceremony to present certificates of merit from the Principal to 13 groups and 27 individuals who have made achievements in 4 years of converting to credit-based training.
5. The first five students to receive their bachelor's degrees ahead of schedule
In the 2009-2010 school year, the first 5 students of the Philosophy Department (QH - 2007 - X) - the first course to completely apply the credit-based training method, graduated 1 year earlier than usual.

The five students who graduated early were: Dong Thi Chinh, Ninh Thi Anh Hong, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Duong Thi Oanh Thanh, Vu Thi Kim Loan from the Faculty of Philosophy and all achieved Good academic results. This event contributed to affirming the advantages of the credit-based training method for students during the learning process.
6. University of Science and Technology established the first company
In October 2010, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector of the University - signed the decision to establish the Science and Tourism Service Company, under the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and appointed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu - Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation - to concurrently hold the position of Director. The Science and Tourism Service Company is the first company established under the University, marking a positive step of development and innovation in the organizational structure of the University's activities.
7. Signing cooperation agreements with universities in Guangxi (China)
In 2010, the University was honored to welcome a high-ranking delegation from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to visit and witness the signing ceremony of cooperation between 6 Chinese universities and 11 Vietnamese universities. In particular, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed two cooperation documents with two universities in Guangxi: Guangxi University and Guangxi University for Nationalities.

Last year, the School also continued to maintain and develop cooperative relationships with more than 100 international partners; signed 11 more cooperation documents with universities in the UK, Korea, Russia, China and Hungary.
8. Opening of the first course of the Master of Science and Technology Management training program
In 2010, the University held the opening ceremony of the first course of the Master's program in Science and Technology Management - a joint training program between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) and Lund University (Sweden) - within the framework of Project 165 of the Central Organizing Committee.

The 38 students admitted to this course come from many provinces and cities, from many different ethnic groups in Vietnam, and are all in the planning of management and leadership positions in ministries, sectors and localities. This affirms that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is not only a center for training high-quality human resources but also a cradle for training many excellent managers and leaders for sectors, localities and the country.
9. University admission block A into 10 majors
In order to meet the training requirements and aspirations of many candidates taking the A block exam nationwide, starting from the 2010 entrance exam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) will enroll candidates taking the A block exam into 10 majors of the school. The specific majors are: Psychology, Management Science, Sociology, Philosophy, Political Science, Information - Library, Archives and Public Administration, International Studies, Tourism Studies, and Anthropology. Also in the 2010 entrance exam, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities officially enrolls a new major: Vietnamese Studies - a scientific major that studies Vietnam according to each major such as history, geography, language, literature, culture, economics, society, ecological environment, ... or according to the interdisciplinary nature of the study area.
10. Singing contest for staff and students to celebrate 65 years of tradition of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities
The singing contest for staff and students to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place with two exciting and grandiose competition nights at Me Tri dormitory and the impressive "Welcome Song" performance night at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This year's competition performances were carefully prepared with the contributions and joint efforts of the staff, lecturers and students, leaving many deep and unforgettable impressions.

The contest truly became an environment for exchange between generations of staff and students, enriching the spiritual and cultural life and honoring the relationship between teachers and students, the spirit of solidarity in work and study, joining hands to build the School to develop more and more.
