The first 10 Nguyen Truong To scholarships were awarded to students.

On January 4, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held the Nguyen Truong To Scholarship Award Ceremony – a scholarship program sponsored by the VNHelp California Charitable Foundation and implemented in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Promotion Fund.Each scholarship, worth VND 3,700,000, was awarded to 10 students from various faculties and years who are from disadvantaged backgrounds but have strived to excel in their studies. Attending the ceremony and awarding the scholarships were journalist Pham Huy Hoan (Editor-in-Chief of Dan Tri online newspaper, Director of the Vietnam Education Promotion Fund), Ms. Do Anh Thu (Director of VNHelp Charitable Association), Dr. Nguyen Quang Lieu – Head of the Political and Student Affairs Department, and representatives from various departments. At the ceremony, Ms. Do Anh Thu, Director of VNHelp Charitable Association, stated that VNHelp was established and is run by Vietnamese expatriates in the US to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds improve their academic performance. VNHelp has been operating in Vietnam since 1991, and the Nguyen Truong To scholarship program is one of the educational support programs that VNHelp has been providing to students at Vietnamese universities and colleges since its inception. Currently, VNHelp awards 350 scholarships annually to university students nationwide. The Nguyen Truong To Scholarship from VNHelp is funded annually, and students who maintain their academic performance will continue to receive the scholarship in subsequent years. This is the first year that students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities have received the Nguyen Truong To Scholarship.
