On the occasion of the upcoming New Year 2011 and the Year of the Rabbit, on behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University, I would like to respectfully extend my best wishes to all teachers, staff, and students studying and working at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.Dear teachers, professors, and students! Inheriting and developing the fine traditions of the former Faculty of Literature and the University of Hanoi, and building upon the achievements of the previous year, in 2010, the faculty and students of the university continued to strive and achieved many proud accomplishments in various fields of activity, from training and scientific research to international cooperation and training partnerships. In 2010, the university also had many important events, including the successful organization of the 26th Party Congress, creating conditions for the university to enter a new phase of development. In particular, last November, generations of faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, were delighted and solemnly celebrated the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi University of Literature, the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities today, and received the Ho Chi Minh Order - a highly prestigious award bestowed by the Party and the State. Many collectives and individuals in the university were also honored to receive the Labor Order and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister. As 2010 draws to a close, all of us - faculty members and students of the university - are extremely happy and proud of the achievements we have made. On behalf of the university leadership, I would like to warmly congratulate and express my most sincere gratitude to all faculty, staff, and students of the university for their continuous efforts and enthusiastic contributions of intellect and strength to successfully complete the assigned tasks throughout the past year. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Party and State agencies, the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, universities, research institutes, agencies, organizations at the central and Hanoi levels, international organizations, teachers, scientists, and administrators both inside and outside the university who have shown great interest and support, contributing greatly to the very proud achievements of the university in 2010. Dear teachers, students, and colleagues! Entering 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to strive to achieve the goal of improving the quality of education, accelerating international integration, building the university towards a research university, and aiming to be among the top 200 universities in Asia in the next decade. To achieve that goal, the school's staff and students need to strive to effectively carry out the following key tasks: 1. Further expand the credit-based training method, effectively implement training programs that meet international standards, and expand international training partnerships to rapidly improve the quality of education. 2. Continue to develop and implement more large-scale, interdisciplinary science and technology projects; improve the effectiveness of scientific research activities to meet the socio-economic development requirements of the country, the capital city, and to serve the training mission. 3. Promote international cooperation, prioritizing partnerships with high-ranking universities to learn from experience, access knowledge, and improve the quality of education and the school's reputation. 4. Strengthen discipline and order in learning and working; cultivate the ethics of educators; Building a community-based cultural environment and a high-quality culture is essential to ensuring sustainable development and successful international integration. I believe that, with the strength of our rich traditions and achievements, with the spirit of unity and high determination, and with the concerted efforts of all generations of staff and students; and with the support and assistance of individuals, agencies, and organizations both domestically and internationally, our University of Social Sciences and Humanities will certainly achieve even greater successes, making a worthy contribution to the industrialization and modernization of the country. Once again, I wish all teachers, staff, and students of the university a new year filled with good health, happiness, and success!
