Scientific seminar with the theme "Some issues on current religious philosophy" organized by the Center for Contemporary Religious Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities on December 29, 2010.Attending the conference were Dr. Pham Huy Thong (Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Catholic Solidarity Committee), Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Principal of the University) and representatives of leaders of departments, scientists from research institutes and different universities. In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal of the University emphasized: This conference focuses on the topic of the relationship between philosophy and religion, which has existed for many centuries in human thought. Philosophy of religion is a big, profound academic issue. Based on the results of the conference, scientists and teachers can think about the possibility of applying some new research results and achievements to teaching and researching religious philosophy as well as developing religious studies in general. The introductory report of Prof. Dr. Do Quang Hung clearly stated the 4 main issues discussed at the seminar: - The relationship between religion and philosophy - Philosophy in religion - Religious philosophy and specific issues - Forecasts. More than 20 reports presented at the seminar focused mainly on the discussion of the above 4 issues: "Some philosophical and theological concepts of Joseph Ratzinger" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Hung (VNU), "Philosophy and Religion" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thai Viet (Faculty of Communication and Foreign Culture, Diplomatic Academy), "The object and role of religious philosophy in the development of society" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Van Thinh (Faculty of Philosophy - University of Social Sciences and Humanities)... The specific manifestations of Philosophy and Religion were also mentioned in great detail by the authors. One of the issues that scientists are most interested in discussing is the teaching and learning of religious philosophy in Vietnam today. A typical example is the paper "Overview of teaching religious philosophy in Vietnamese high schools and universities" by journalist Vuong Dinh Chu (Catholicism and Ethnicity Journal, Ho Chi Minh City) which clarified both the advantages and limitations of teaching and learning religious philosophy today. In particular, journalist Vuong Dinh Chu also raised important comments and suggestions. A number of other reports also focus on the teaching and learning of religious philosophy today: "Some things about researching and teaching Buddhist Philosophy in Vietnam today" by Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Thi Tho (Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences) or "Buddhist view of life on the issue of personal education" by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen (University of Social Sciences and Humanities)... The scientific seminar "Some current issues of religious philosophy" is one of the last scientific activities in 2010 of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities before entering the new year 2011.
