A scientific conference with the theme “Faculty of Philosophy - 35 years of research and training” was held on September 30. Attending the conference were Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Principal of the School, scientists inside and outside the school.The workshop aimed to summarize the great achievements in 35 years of training and scientific research of the Faculty of Philosophy and at the same time discuss and outline development strategies for the next stage of the Faculty of Philosophy. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Van (Head of the Faculty of Philosophy) presented a report on 35 years of construction and growth of the Faculty of Philosophy in a number of basic areas: organization, training activities, international cooperation and facilities. The report emphasized that with 35 years of construction and growth from a faculty established on the basis of a strategy for the development of the team of theoretical staff in Vietnam, the Faculty has built a team of dedicated and qualified scientists. Regarding training, over the past 35 years, the Faculty has strived to expand the scale and structure of training. From 61 students in the first course to now, the Faculty has completed the task of training 32 courses of full-time students with 2,110 students and 8 courses of part-time students. Currently, the Faculty is training 325 full-time students in two training systems: standard and high quality. In the field of postgraduate training, the Faculty is training 3 master's programs, 2 doctoral programs and will open 2 more doctoral programs in 2011 - 2012. Specific development strategies in each field were also presented by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Van at the conference. The research and training achievements of the Faculty of Philosophy continue to be affirmed in the report "The Faculty of Philosophy - a prestigious place to train bachelors for the Institute of Philosophy" by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha (Institute of Philosophy). The report clearly stated that right from the first student classes of the Faculty, they were accepted and worked at the Institute of Philosophy, since then many generations of students have been accepted and worked at the Institute. The staff trained from the Faculty of Philosophy have the advantage of being equipped with basic knowledge of the history of philosophy and Marxist-Leninist philosophy, understanding the political theory of the Party... Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha emphasized: Among the philosophy training institutions in our country today, the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is known as one of the training institutions with many "academic" features in philosophy.
At this conference, issues of philosophical research and training in today's era were also raised. Associate Professor Dr. Phan Thanh Khoi (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration) said that it is necessary to "Improve practicality in teaching Philosophy". According to Associate Professor Dr. Phan Thanh Khoi, lectures on political theory in general and philosophy in particular must be practical, and must always be linked to vivid reality. Lecturers need to clearly recognize the importance of improving practicality in philosophical lectures, and need to correctly understand the practical elements included in lectures... Associate Professor Dr. Luong Dinh Hai (Institute of Human Studies) emphasized: It is necessary to combine research and teaching, not to be subjective and hasty, there should be a program to collect materials, restructure all teaching materials... In the coming years, the Faculty of Philosophy should restructure teaching materials to be more updated, more fundamental and more synchronous. In addition, there are many other opinions and reports focusing on discussing specific content related to research, training as well as the role of philosophy in today's era: "Teaching philosophy in the current period" - Dr. Tran Thao Nguyen (Dai Nam University), "The role of philosophy and research and teaching philosophy in the current context" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (Faculty of Philosophy - University of Social Sciences and Humanities), "Enhancing the prestige and position of the Faculty of Philosophy - University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the period of renovation" - Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ba Duong (Military Political Academy)... The scientific conference is one of the activities towards the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Philosophy.
