The ceremony to announce the decision to establish the Faculty of Political Science was solemnly held on the morning of September 27. Attending were Mr. Dinh The Huynh - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Prof. Nguyen Duc Binh - former member of the Politburo; Mr. Nguyen Khanh - former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Prime Minister; Ms. Ngo Thi Doan Thanh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council... and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training, VNU, units, and functional departments in the school...In July 2011, the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed a decision to establish the Faculty of Political Science on the basis of the Department of Political Science. The Board of Directors of the Faculty of Political Science includes: Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu (Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council) as the Head of the Faculty, the Vice Heads of the Faculty are: Dr. Luu Minh Van, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, and MSc. Pham Quoc Thanh. At the ceremony, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Faculty of Political Science, Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu expressed his gratitude to the generations who have contributed to the development of the Faculty. Reporting on the process of building and developing the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu said: The determination to establish a unit specializing in research and training in Political Science was established in the late 80s of the 20th century. After a preparation process, in 1995 the Department of Political Science was established; In 2005, the Department was assigned to train masters and doctors in two majors: Political Science and Ho Chi Minh Studies; in 2008, the Department continued to be assigned to train bachelors in Political Science. Up to now, the Faculty of Political Science has trained 98 masters, 9 PhD students, including 1 foreign PhD student, and more than 200 students. In addition, the Faculty has successfully organized 6 training courses for lecturers of Ho Chi Minh Thought, teaching two subjects: Ho Chi Minh Thought and General Political Science for units in VNU...
In his congratulatory speech to the Faculty of Political Science, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Dinh The Huynh highly appreciated and believed that the Political Science training sector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would develop steadily, demonstrating the identity, mettle and uniqueness of Vietnamese politics. The Faculty of Political Science was established on the basis of the Department of Political Science to meet the social need for in-depth training in Political Science - people with the ability to research and practice Political Science, and the ability to work in fields requiring an understanding of Political Science.
