Yesterday, February 28, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. local time, or 5:30 p.m. Hanoi time, the funeral of Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Tai Can was solemnly held at the Khovanskoe Funeral Home, Moscow, Russia. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) sent a wreath to pay respect to the Professor. On behalf of the University, Professor, Doctor, Rector Nguyen Van Khanh sent a letter of condolences to Professor, Doctor N. Stankievich and his family.

Upon hearing the news that Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Tai Can, due to old age and poor health, passed away on February 25, 2011; the Party Committee, Board of Directors, and all staff, lecturers, and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi respectfully send our deepest condolences to the Professor and all his family.
The passing of Professor Nguyen Tai Can is an irreparable loss for his family and a huge loss for the School and the Linguistics industry of our country.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is very proud of the outstanding scientific results that Professor Nguyen Tai Can contributed to the common achievements of the University and the linguistics industry of the country; deeply mourns him - a person with a pure heart for the common cause, devoted to science, and devoted his whole life to caring for and training students.
I hope the Professor and his family will try to contain their grief and overcome these difficult times together.
