The seminar "New Security and Governance Issues in Asia" was organized by the Faculty of International Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Kyushu University (Japan) on June 18 and 19. The seminar was attended by professors and graduate students from both universities.
With the theme of emerging security and governance issues in Asia, the specific topics presented and discussed included: China's gunboat diplomacy and the South China Sea; the decline of East Asian regionalism; the realization of the ASEAN political and security community; the Obama administration's policy toward China in the military field; reforms in Myanmar; Japan's energy security; Southeast Asian culture: unity and diversity; migration issues in Asia; corruption in various countries and its consequences…
This is an in-depth scientific activity involving academic exchange and interaction with foreign universities, a trend that will be actively promoted in the future by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general and the Faculty of International Studies in particular. Through this, postgraduate students not only have the opportunity to enhance their specialized knowledge and hone their research thinking but also to be exposed to new theories and schools of scientific research from around the world, and learn research experience from foreign scholars.
