Happy 80th birthday to Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh, People's Teacher.

On the morning of October 25th, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Trade Union of the University, in coordination with the Association of Retired Teachers and the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics, solemnly organized a ceremony to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh.

Happy 80th birthday to Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh, People's Teacher.
On the morning of October 25th, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Trade Union of the University, in coordination with the Association of Retired Teachers and the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics, solemnly organized a ceremony to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh.On behalf of the school's leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – the Rector – delivered a congratulatory speech, expressing gratitude for the contributions of Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh to the school over the past half-century. Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh graduated from the first class of the Faculty of Literature – Hanoi University. After graduating in 1959, he was sent to study in the former Soviet Union. During his four years of study at Moscow State University, he was taught by renowned professors and experts on Russian literature such as A.V. Alpatov, A.L. Metchenko, and became one of the first Russian studies scholars in our country. From then until now, for more than half a century, he has devoted all his efforts to researching and teaching Soviet literature, especially Russian literature. In terms of scientific research alone, by 2005, Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh had compiled 14 books and textbooks, and published dozens of works in specialized scientific journals, including foundational textbooks for the Department of Foreign Literature: *History of Soviet Literature*, Volume I, 1982; *History of Russian Literature*, Volume III, 1998. Particularly noteworthy is his comprehensive monograph entitled "Maxim Gorky" (Culture Publishing House, 1981, 293 pages), which provided readers with a deep and comprehensive understanding of the great poet Maxim Gorky. In addition, he collaborated with colleagues and students on numerous articles and monographs on Russian and Western literary authors such as Pushkin, Hugo, and Andersen.



Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh was not only a dedicated and talented educator and scientist, but also a highly responsible administrator. During his years as Head of the Faculty of Literature from 1988 to 1992, and many years as Head of the Department of Foreign Literature, and even after retiring from administrative work and remaining a member of the Scientific and Training Council, the Professor consistently showed deep concern for the work and the common good, offering numerous suggestions and contributions to the development of the Faculty and the University.

Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Professor Ha Minh Duc, and the first graduating class of the University congratulated and reminisced about the meaningful and profound memories of Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh. Associate Professor Doan Duc Phuong - Head of the Faculty of Literature, and Associate Professor Nguyen Hong Con - Head of the Faculty of Linguistics, expressed their gratitude and thanks for Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh's contributions to the development of their respective faculties.

Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh expressed his gratitude and emotion at the concern shown by his friends, colleagues, and generations of students, and reiterated the ten words of "Doctrine of the Mean" to the students: Scholarly - Inquiry - Careful reflection - Clear judgment - Steadfast action.
