On the morning of October 25, the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the School's Trade Union, in coordination with the Association of Former Teachers and the Faculty of Literature and Linguistics, solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th birthday of Professor, People's Teacher Nguyen Kim Dinh.On behalf of the school's leadership, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the school - delivered a congratulatory speech and expressed gratitude for the contributions of Prof. People's Teacher Nguyen Kim Dinh to the school over the past half century. Prof. People's Teacher Nguyen Kim Dinh graduated from the first course, Faculty of Literature - Hanoi National University. After graduating in 1959, he was sent to study in the former Soviet Union. During his four years of study at Moscow State University, he was taught by famous professors and experts in Russian literature such as AV Alpatov, AI Metchenko..., and became one of the first Russian scholars in our country. Since then, for more than half a century, he has devoted all his efforts to researching and teaching Soviet literature, especially Russian literature. Regarding scientific research alone, by 2005, Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh had compiled 14 books and textbooks, published dozens of works in specialized scientific journals, including textbooks that played a fundamental role for the Department of Foreign Literature: History of Soviet Literature, Volume I, 1982; History of Russian Literature, Volume III, 1998. In particular, the elaborate monograph titled "Maxim Gorky" (Culture Publishing House, 1981, 293 pages) helped readers gain a deep and comprehensive understanding of the great poet Maxim Gorky. In addition, he and his colleagues and students co-wrote many articles and monographs on Russian and Western literary authors such as Pushkin, Hugo, Andersen, etc.
Not only a dedicated and talented teacher and scientist, Professor Nguyen Kim Dinh is also a responsible manager. During his years as Head of the Faculty of Literature from 1988 to 1992 and many years as Head of the Department of Foreign Literature, and even after he stopped working as a manager and became a member of the Science and Training Council, the Professor still constantly worried about his work and career, and had many opinions and contributions to the construction and development of the Faculty and the School.
