On the morning of October 22, 2011, the "Green Tour" 2011 journey stopped at the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace historical site in Hanoi.“Green Tour” is a volunteer journey through tourist destinations organized by the Faculty of Tourism Studies (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) in collaboration with the Youth Union of the Presidential Palace Historical Site under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This is an annual activity of the Faculty of Tourism Studies aimed at promoting the “Volunteer Emulation Movement for Building and Protecting the Fatherland” among all its members. Simultaneously, it aims to raise awareness and foster a sense of self-discipline in protecting a clean and green environment, promoting a civilized lifestyle, and improving the quality of community life, contributing to building a green, clean, beautiful, civilized, and friendly Vietnam. The program consists of three main activities: “Journey to Call for Environmental Protection”, “Environmental Activities in the Presidential Palace Historical Site”, and “Vote for Ha Long Bay”. At exactly 7:00 AM, the volunteer team departed from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the Historical Site, following the route Nguyen Trai – Tay Son – Nguyen Luong Bang – Ton Duc Thang – Chu Van An – Le Hong Phong – Ngoc Ha. At the Historical Site, the volunteers cleaned up the following areas: the fruit orchard, flower garden, mango tree path, and President Ho Chi Minh's fish pond.

The results showed that 210 messages were sent and 518 votes were cast in accordance with the regulations. Pham Van Quynh (K55 Tourism Studies) shared: “After this morning, I feel very happy and relaxed. I saw the spirit of everyone in the team, Vietnamese citizens and international friends, towards the scenic beauty of Ha Long Bay. The team members worked very actively today. Everyone felt satisfied.” Le Thi Nhien (K55 Tourism Studies) confided: “With this activity, I feel I have contributed something to environmental protection, especially in the development of sustainable tourism. Collaborating with the Youth Union of the Presidential Palace Historical Site is a small success for us. I hope that after this program, there will be more environmental protection programs in collaboration between the Faculty of Tourism and other organizations.”

Commenting on the program, Ms. Mai Le Huyen – Secretary of the Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site at the Presidential Palace – said: “The students were very active in today's activity. Some students didn't even have time for breakfast but still worked very enthusiastically, with a very collective and positive spirit. We hope that the University will have more activities in coordination with the Youth Union of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site so that we can have more meaningful activities.” “Green Tour” is an activity with great significance in protecting the environment, as well as helping to make the beauty of Vietnam known to the world.
